Product Background

The Speedmaster is one of Omega's signature timepieces, having been carried on six moon landing projects. Originally equipped with a hand-wound caliber, it was sold under the name "Seamaster Chronograph", but was renamed "Speedmaster" in 1957.

Model features

This manual-winding model, limited to 1,014 pieces worldwide, was released to commemorate 50 years since astronauts wearing OMEGA watches made the first successful moon landing in 1969. The decorated inner ring of the caseback is made of blackened 18K Moonshine™ gold and is inlaid with a partial map of the Americas and a domed lunar meteorite, creating a comparison with the actual Earth and Moon.

Product design

The vertically brushed 18K Moonshine™ gold dial features onyx hour markers, and the ceramic bezel ring, case back and movement markings are burgundy, creating a luxurious yet appealing design with a touch of vintage flair.
