Product Background

The "Ref. 5170," which appeared in 2010 as the successor to the 2-counter chronograph model "Ref. 5070," is classified as a regular complication (complicated) rather than a grand complication (ultra-complicated) in Patek Philippe's product classification. However, its manufacturing method is the same as that of a grand complication, which is known as "double-assembly."

Model features

Equipped with the column wheel type in-house hand-wound movement "Cal. CH 29-535 PS," this rare model was discontinued in 2019 after only two years of production. A platinum model was released in 2017, and features baguette diamond indexes and a tachymeter scale on the outer edge of the dial, giving it an elegant yet sporty feel.

Product design

The indexes are set with diamonds, creating an atmosphere of elegance and luxury. The dial has a distinctive design with a gradation from blue in the center to black around the periphery.
