Vintage Datejust "Ref.1601/8"
This is a solid yellow gold vintage Datejust, manufactured between the 1960s and 1970s!

What makes this specific piece truly special is this blue dial!!
While you often see Ref.1601/8 models with champagne dials, this one features a beautiful blue sunray dial set with 8 diamonds—a rare configuration that you will almost never see on the market!

Yes!! I want to draw your attention to the diamond arrangement on this dial!
The 8 diamonds are set at the 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, and 11 o'clock positions, with gold bar indices at the 6 and 9 o'clock positions.
This combination of 8 diamonds and 6/9 o'clock bar indices is extremely rare, and that exquisite balance is just irresistible!!

In the past, a different model—a Ref.1803 with 3 diamonds set at the 2, 6, and 10 o'clock positions—was auctioned at Phillips Auctions.
While the diamond placement differs from this piece, they share the common design element of combining diamonds with bar indices.
The existence of such unique index configurations is exactly what makes vintage Rolex so interesting!!

The pale, soft blue hue has a wonderful retro feel as well.
The sunray finish creates different shades depending on how the light hits it, and it is truly captivating to see the various expressions of blue from different angles!!

The condition of the dial is excellent, and it is in a beautiful state with no noticeable deterioration!!
The luminous material on the indices remains in wonderful condition, with almost no loss to be seen.

It is all-tritium lume. The radiation response of the indices and hands matches, and the condition of the luminous hands is also good.

As for the condition, there are some signs of use, but the case and bracelet remain firm and carry a great impression.

As you can see, the middle case is in good condition without excessive polishing.

The watch is equipped with a President bracelet. It has a presence unique to solid gold and looks absolutely fantastic!!

There is some slack in the bracelet, but it sits very comfortably on the wrist.

The case back features a hallmark typically found on pieces sold in France.
It is a hallmark that is surprisingly little-known.
The buckle also bears the same hallmark. You don't often see bracelets with this engraving either.

Wow, this is a looker!!
Wrist shot!!It looks even cooler on the wrist!!
The balance between the 8 diamonds and the 6/9 o'clock bars is exquisite, and this unique atmosphere is simply irresistible!!
