Daytona "Ref. 16520" equipped with El Primero.

The 16520 is a popular model with a variety of unique features that appeal to enthusiasts, such as the 200-tachy, 225-tachy, porcelain, step-down/floating, 4-line, inverted 6 dial, Patrizzi, brown eye, A-serial, and P-serial.

The model we are introducing this time is an early Ref. 16520/L3 serial with appealing characteristics.

Compared to a little while ago, the market price of El Primero models in general is clearly on an upward trend.

While the market price for extremely rare early models is difficult to gauge,
it definitely feels like it's slowly but steadily rising!

Meanwhile, as the availability of this model in the market continues to decrease,
we recommend checking it out soon if you are interested!

First, let's introduce the features unique to early models!

"200 Tachy" MK1 Bezel

The tachymeter bezel of the 16520 is usually a 400-tachymeter,
but very early models have a 200-meter one.
This is a rare bezel essential for early models!

MK2 Dial "4-Line"

This is an early dial where "OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED" was removed from the 5-line English text, resulting in a 4-line text.
Like the MK1 dial, this is also a very rare dial that is not often seen.
Personally, I really love the cool "E" in the ROLEX logo!

"Inverted 6" Dial

This is an early dial, manufactured until around the S-serial, where the "6" in the 12-hour counter at the 6 o'clock position is inverted, appearing like a "9", hence it's called "inverted 6" or "reverse 6".

As this is a characteristic up to around the S-serial, MK1 dials/floating and MK2 dials/4-line will always have an "inverted 6".

Single Buckle

The single buckle is also an essential feature of early models.
The clasp code for this particular piece is "M5," which perfectly matches the era!

Kama-boko Case

The Kama-boko case is also a feature of early models!
Can you see that early models have a thick case?
The rugged impression of the Kama-boko case is very appealing.

Although there are signs of use,
the overall impression is of a solid and good example.

*There is a crown etching on the crystal.

The middle case is in good condition, maintaining its original form.

As you can see, the edges of the lugs are sharp!

There is a ding on the 5 o'clock lug, but it blends naturally with the overall wear and tear,
and does not detract from the watch's appeal.

On the contrary, these scratches add to its appeal,
making it a piece where you can enjoy its rugged charm and semi-vintage character.

The bracelet, which matches the age, is also in good condition with only slight stretching!!

The dial condition is excellent, maintaining a clean state even under a loupe.
It is frankly rare to find an early model with such a good dial condition.

The luminescence is all tritium. The tritium hands are properly equipped.

It looks great!
Although there are scratches, the bezel area isn't worn down, and it gives a good impression when held!

It also comes with a full set of accessories.

Box (with reference sticker), warranty card, chronometer certificate, international service warranty card, chronometer tag, green tag (no serial number), Daytona booklet (88), Oyster booklet (89), and other official booklets are all included!

It's definitely rare to find an early model with such a complete set of accessories!

Wrist shot! So cool!
The combination of the immediately recognizable 4-line dial and 200-tachy bezel makes for an exceptionally cool and super chic early El Primero!

The "Ref. 16520/L3 serial" is an early model with an MK1 bezel and an MK2 dial. These early models with such wonderful rare features are truly captivating. This particular piece is attractive for its rugged case, excellent dial condition, and a complete set of accessories including the box, warranty card, and Daytona booklet, making it highly recommended! While tritium models are generally becoming rarer, an early example like this is an opportunity when you find it! Customers looking for a rare El Primero-equipped Daytona, please consider this item.

Last is a two-shot with the solid gold MK1/Floating!!
See you next time!!
