The third generation Explorer "Ref. 1016" manufactured from around 1959 to around 1989
The Vintage Explorer has undergone various specification changes over its long production period.
The item arriving this time is the L number, which is the final item.
There are also E-series models, which were produced in extremely limited numbers, but the R and L-series models are popular years that are nearing the end of production.
The dial is the final, well-balanced dial produced from around 1986 to around 1990!
The luminous material on this dial doesn't burn very well.
Although this individual cannot be said to be pure white,
I don't notice much luminous burn.
Well, this one is an early MK1 dial, L number.
The luminous index numbers 3, 6, and 9 are characterized by their cute, thick form, making this a rare dial known as a "fat font" or "fat luminous" design.
This is the first time in a long while that the L-number fat font has been available at Commit.
This is a comparison photo with number R (right).
When comparing them like this, can you see the difference in thickness between the 3, 6, and 9 indexes?
What do you think? This chubby 3/6/9!!
It's so cute.
It's interesting that even the same fat font has individual differences.
Personally, I was amused by the expression on the number 9's face (lol).
The bar index on this particular watch is also bulging.
The dial condition is as good as that of a magnifying glass, but
It is maintained in good condition.
*Please note that the hour and minute hands were replaced later and now glow in the dark.
There are scratches and scuffs due to use,
The case and bracelet are in good condition.
The middle case is in good condition with no excessive finishing.
Buckle clasp code is "O1"
The bracelet matches the age and is in good condition with only slight creasing!
Accessories include box, warranty card (Swiss), chronometer tag,
Comes with Explorer booklet (87), replacement flat windshield, and extra links!
The retailer is Bucherer, a long-established Swiss watch jeweller.
Wrist shot!!
I just can't stand this fat, bloated index!!
It's a dial that you will grow to love!
