Rolex uses Zenith automatic chronograph movements
Based on the El Primero, the frequency has been reduced from 36,000 vibrations per hour to 28,800 vibrations per hour.

The Rolex models produced from the R series (around 1988) to the P series (around 2000) were the last to be equipped with movements from other manufacturers.
