It was produced from around 1980 to around 1988.
Second generation Submariner Date/Ref. 16800.
While inheriting the basic design from the first Submariner Date/Ref. 1680,
The windshield has been changed from plastic to sapphire glass.
It also has a unidirectional rotating bezel and a quick-change date function.
This model is now even more practical.
The model that has arrived this time is the early model "borderless" model.
The Ref. 16800 is divided into early and late models, with either a "borderless" version having no border on the index or a "bordered" version having a metal border.
The transition to the later-style bordered dial began around 1984.
The early model has a matte dial, giving it a more vintage feel!
This particular example is attractive in that the tritium on the hands and dial has burned almost evenly.
The dial condition is also very clean even when viewed through a magnifying glass.
The most attractive feature of this particular model is undoubtedly the bezel insert, isn't it?
It is equipped with an incredibly cool insert that has faded brown exquisitely over time!
