The third generation Explorer "Ref. 1016" manufactured from around 1960 to around 1990
The Vintage Explorer has undergone various specification changes over its long production period.
This is a popular model with a wide variety of dial variations.

The MK1 dial is called the "Frogfoot" dial because the font on the crown mark resembles a frog's foot.

This MK1 dial is a rare dial with rare features that are different from regular dials.

This is a comparison photo with Ref. 1016 (right), manufactured in our store around 1983.
What do you think? They are both Ref. 1016, but they have completely different looks.

Yes!! Pay attention to the 3, 6, and 9 indexes!!
This particular model (left) has thick luminous indexes at 3, 6, and 9, and is characterized by its cute shape, making it a rare dial commonly referred to as "mega fat."

Even so, the thickness is completely different.
Some of the later L series also have fat font dials, but the MK1/Mega Fat is said to have the thickest luminous font among all the Ref. 1016s.

This fat 3-6-9 index.
The numbers are about to collapse (laughs).
It's a cute dial with a vintage feel.

The dial condition is slightly stained due to aging, but it is almost invisible to the naked eye.

The case and bracelet have some scratches from use, but the overall condition is good.

The middle case has a slightly polished feel, but is relatively solid.

The Swiss rivet bracelet is stamped with the year '68, so it matches the date.

The breath is in good condition and there is little creasing.

Accessories include a box (outer box 1016 with reflector seal).

Wrist shot!!
The plump 3, 6 and 9 are irresistible!! It's a dial with character.

Vintage Explorer "Ref.1016/MK1" is an early dial with a mega fat font that is hard to find!!
The dial and bracelet match perfectly, so I highly recommend it!!
