Hello! This is Kaneko from Commit Ginza! Today we have a rare second generation Explorer II. Rolex Explorer II Center Split All Tritium Ref.16550 Serial.90 (manufactured around 1985) Accessories: Main unit only Cal.3085 78360/FF501 Clasp code K4 SOLD OUT!! Restocked. Don't miss out if you're looking for this!
The second generation Explorer II "Ref. 16550" was manufactured from around 1984 to around 1988. It was a short-lived model with a production period of only a few years. The dial colors of the "Ref. 16550" are black, white, and ivory, but the model we are introducing this time is a black dial with a rugged and rugged impression.
This particular model has a rare dial, commonly known as a "center split" , where the space between the words "SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER" on the top line and "OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED" on the bottom line is the same on both the top and bottom. Ivory dials with center splits are well known, but black dials with center splits are also rare.
Furthermore, this particular watch has spider web-like cracks on the dial surface. Depending on the angle of the light, it looks like a spider web, which is what makes it a "spider " dial. Strangely enough, the black center split dial looks like a spider.
This crunchy spider with its large cracks is also very cool!! You should definitely see it in person!!
The tritium is also strongly burnt, giving this watch a great look! It's hard to find a 5-digit Explorer II with a black dial and strong burnt marks. And it looks really cool!
Although the luminous hands will naturally deteriorate, you would still want to stick with the original tritium hands!!
The condition is that there are small scratches on the case and bracelet from use, but overall it is in very good condition!
The middle case is in excellent condition and remains crisp.
The impressive rug feet have excellent hairline and edge lines. There is a scratch on the lug foot at 1 o'clock, but since it is an item from the 80s, some minor scratches are part of its charm!
The crisp, period-matching single bracelet is in good condition with almost no signs of wear! *The links are full links. Lastly, a wrist shot! A center split spider dial! A wonderful piece that lets you experience the quality of semi-vintage! The rare Explorer II "Ref. 16550/85" has a center split x spider and a rare dial unique to this era. In fact, this particular one also has a nice serial number! For customers who prefer black letters for the Explorer II, this is a rare model that is rarely seen these days , so please consider purchasing it.
