The Rolex Day-Date is the highest-end model available only in gold and platinum. Compared to the previous model, Ref. 1803, this is the Ref. 18038, which has a sapphire crystal windshield instead of a plastic windshield and is equipped with a quick-change date function.
The Ref. 18038 first appeared around 1977. The one we are introducing today is an early model manufactured around 1980.
