The third generation Explorer "Ref. 1016" manufactured from around 1960 to around 1989
The Vintage Explorer has undergone various specification changes over its long production period.
This vintage model is popular for its superb dial design and exquisite 36mm size.
The item we have in stock this time is the early matte dial/MK1 manufactured around 1968.
The MK1 dial is nicknamed "frog leg" or "frog foot" because the font on the crown mark resembles a frog's leg.
The dial is original, but the hands have been replaced with Luminova hands.
There is some unnoticeable wear on the outer circumference of the dial, but it is in good, clean condition.
This particular item was overhauled by Rolex Japan in September 2022 (this month).
The middle case was also replaced at that time.
It's a little disappointing to have to replace the middle case in order to replace the hands, but...
The appealing thing about this case is that you can enjoy a brand new, unpolished case!!

This is a genuine non-poly case. It will appeal to case geeks (laughs).
There is an original protective sticker on the side of the case.
The bezel and bracelet have been refinished during the overhaul, so the exterior is in very good condition.
Incidentally, the bracelet was also replaced in later years.
Therefore, it is in very good condition with almost no wrinkles.
Accessories include the original inner box (later model), international service warranty card, and invoice.
There is still 2 years of manufacturer's warranty remaining, so you can use it with peace of mind!

This is a vintage Explorer "Ref. 1016" in excellent condition. Although some parts have been replaced, it is in good condition and can be used comfortably!
