The third generation Explorer "Ref. 1016" manufactured from around 1960 to around 1990
The Vintage Explorer has undergone various specification changes over its long production period.
The model we are introducing this time is the L number, which is the final model number.
There is also the E series, which was produced in extremely limited numbers, but the L series is also a rare item that is rarely seen.
I have the impression that even the R number is becoming less and less common these days.

The dial is a "5-type dial"
This is the final dial produced between 1986 and 1990.
A well-balanced and popular dial!

The dial has slight deterioration due to aging, but it is not noticeable to the naked eye and the overall condition is good.
The luminous hands are in excellent condition with no cracks.
It seems that older models are less likely to burn, and this particular model also has very little fading in the luminous material.
The case and bracelet have some small scratches, but they have not been overly finished and have well-defined edges, making them in excellent condition.

The middle case is thick and the hairline is in good condition.

The lug shape is also crisp!!

The clasp code is "R", so it is a little later, but the bracelet is in excellent condition!!
The red velcro seal is still on the buckle.

The bracelet is in a crisp condition with no sign of wrinkles at all.

The L number alone is rare, but this is an attractive product that comes with all the accessories.
Comes with box (with reflector seal), warranty (USA), international service warranty (07), EX booklet (88), Oyster booklet (88), and calendar (88-89).

It's nice that this is the final L model and it comes with a warranty and an EX booklet that matches the era.
Although there are still some Ref. 1016s with a warranty, this will likely become less and less common in the future.
If you think about it, it's worth it while you can.

Incidentally, the 1988 EX booklet had the numbers 101600 and 16550A instead of 1016/0 and 16550.
What is 101600?
It's a mystery that seems trivial but isn't. If you know the answer, please let me know!

Even though the luminous material hasn't burned off, this is a great piece with a great atmosphere!

This is the last L model of the popular vintage Explorer "Ref. 1016" and is in good condition with a full range of accessories. It is a recommended item!
Such a fine specimen is definitely rare!
