The "material" of a watch greatly influences its impression. The "material" of a watch greatly influences not only its impression (appearance) but also its scratch resistance and weight, making it an important point when choosing a watch.
So, over the course of five articles, I would like to introduce our recommended "combination model," "white gold model," "rose gold model," "yellow gold model," and "platinum model."
This is the first installment, and we will be introducing eight carefully selected combination models, so please enjoy until the end.

① [Vacheron Constantin] "Overseas Chronograph" "Ref. 5500V/000M-B074"
*Source: https://www.thewatchbox.com/shop/Vacheron-Constantin-Overseas-5500V-000M-B074.html
The first model we would like to introduce is the popular luxury sports model "Overseas Chronograph" "Ref. 5500V/000M-B074", which was announced at SIHH in 2017 .
The combination of the 18KPG (pink gold) used for the bezel, crown, pushers, indexes, and hands and the brown alligator strap is an excellent match, as they are similar earth tones. It is not as flashy as combination models, but has an elegant finish. This model has already been discontinued, but since Vacheron Constantin itself hardly produces combination models, there are very few in circulation, so this is a watch that I would especially recommend to those who want an Overseas but don't want to be the same as others.

● Estimated budget: around 5,500,000 yen
2. [Cartier] Santos de Cartier, Ref. W2SA0006
*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/cartier/santos-6/
Next up, we will introduce the Ref. W2SA0006 from the Santos de Cartier collection, which is one of Cartier's most popular watches.
The bezel and the Santos-specific screws (only on the bracelet) are made of 18KYG (yellow gold), and the contrast with the white dial with Roman indexes creates a luxurious look. The "Quick Switch System" allows you to easily change the strap without tools. The cabochon on the crown and the blue steel hands are accents, giving this combination model the refinement that is characteristic of Cartier and an elegant impression without being pretentious.

● Estimated budget: around 1,200,000 yen
③ [Audemars Piguet] "CODE 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Chronograph" "Ref. 26393CR.OO.A002KB.01"
*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/audemars_piguet/code-11-59/code-11-59-by-audemars-piguet-276297/
Next up is the "CODE 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Chronograph" "Ref. 26393CR.OO.A002KB.01", which has a chic smoked gray dial.
This watch uses 18KPG (pink gold) for the octagonal middle case, indexes, and hands, but the design does not look like a combination model when viewed from the front. Another point is that you can enjoy changing the strap with a textile motif rubber finish in the summer and an alligator strap in the winter. With the 18KPG (pink gold) used sparingly, this combination model is easy to use for both casual and business use.

④ [Audemars Piguet] "Royal Oak" "Ref. 14790SA"
*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/audemars_piguet/royal-oak/royal-oak-295984/
Next up, we'd like to introduce the Ref. 14790SA from Audemars Piguet's iconic watch, the Royal Oak, which was released in 1992.
The octagonal bezel, bracelet links, indexes and hands are made of 18KYG (yellow gold), which accents the design. This model has undergone many minor changes, such as changing the buckle specifications between the early and late production periods. The 36mm case is popular as it fits comfortably on the wrist, and inside it is the Cal.2225 movement, which is an improved version of Jaeger-LeCoultre's Cal.889/2. The dials are available in a range of colors: calm gray, glamorous champagne, and refreshing white, so why not choose your favorite color?

● Estimated budget: around 3,000,000 yen
⑤ [Patek Philippe] "Nautilus" "Ref. 3800/1JA"
*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/patek_philippe/nautilus/nautilus-31/
Next up is the " Ref. 3800," a long-selling model that was manufactured from around 1981 to around 2005 and is characterized by its slightly smaller size than the original "Nautilus" "Ref. 3700."
The bezel, bracelet center links, indexes, and hands are made of 18KYG (yellow gold), and the color contrast of the blue dial is highlighted. When it was first released, it was equipped with the "Cal.335 SC" with a vibration frequency of 28,800, but around 1992, the frequency was deliberately lowered to 21,600, and it was changed to the "Cal.330 SC" with an emphasis on stability, which is interesting. It is priced reasonably among the popular "Nautilus", so I think it is a watch worth aiming for.

Estimated budget: around 7,000,000 yen
⑥ [Patek Philippe] "Nautilus Petite Complication" "Ref. 5712GR-001"
*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/patek_philippe/nautilus/nautilus-234040/
The sixth is the Ref. 5712GR-001, a rare combination model for the Nautilus, which was produced for a very short period from 2012 to around 2015 and was extremely short-lived .
This model uses 18KRG (rose gold) for the bezel, flush fit, indexes, and hands, and 18KWG (white gold) for the case, and the combination with the brownish gray dial gives it an elegant and mature impression. Usually, combinations are made with SS (stainless steel) and gold, but the use of two types of gold gives you a sense of Patek Philippe's aesthetic. This is a watch that I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a Nautilus that is different from the others.

7. [Patek Philippe] "Nautilus Chronograph" "Ref. 5980/1AR-001"
*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/patek_philippe/nautilus/nautilus-106/
The Nautilus Chronograph "Ref. 5980/1AR-001" is a combination model of SS (stainless steel) and 18KRG (rose gold) that has been manufactured since 2013 .
This complication model features 18KRG (rose gold) for the bezel, bracelet center links, indexes, and hands, and SS (stainless steel) for the case material, combined with a blue gradient dial for a mature sexiness. The dial's greatest feature is the way it shows different expressions, such as "dark navy" and "lustrous, vibrant blue," depending on the amount of light. There are very few models on the market, so this is perhaps the pinnacle of combination models.

● Estimated budget: around 16,000,000 yen
8. Rolex: Daytona, Ref. 16523
*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/rolex/daytona/daytona-el-primero-304253/
Finally, we would like to introduce the El Primero combination model "Daytona" "Ref. 16523", which was produced from around 1988 to around 2000 .
The dial variations of the Ref. 16520, which uses SS (stainless steel), are only black and white, but the Ref. 16523 is available in a wide range of colors, including not only black and white, but also champagne, gray, and shell. The black dial with bar indexes and the gold color of the in-dial and bezel make this a cool watch for any man. Despite being made of 18KYG (yellow gold), it is also attractive because it is more affordable than SS (stainless steel).

summary
What did you think.
I have the impression that many people have shied away from combination models due to their flashiness, but recently, more and more people are enjoying the combination of different materials. At present, the more user-friendly SS (stainless steel) models are more expensive, so I think this is a very attractive model in terms of price as well. If you don't have a combination model yet, be sure to take this opportunity to find your favorite one.
If you're unsure of which model to choose, or are having a hard time deciding, please feel free to contact us at our store, where we have knowledgeable staff on-site who will give you accurate advice based on design, functionality, budget, etc.
Once again, we hope this article will help you find your favorite one.
see you!
