Hello everyone.

Today, we would like to present to you the "Top 10 Recommended Tudor Mechanical Watches (2022 Edition)" .

Many of the new models for 2022 were announced with a respect for Rolex while incorporating the characteristics of Tudor. In recent years, Tudor's popularity seems to have become more stable, with the release of reissue models that focus on past masterpieces. Also, like Rolex, it is becoming more difficult to obtain popular models at authorized stores, and many models have a premium attached.

This time, I would like to introduce a carefully selected list of Tudor's 2022 new and discontinued models, which I am looking forward to seeing in the future. Please enjoy until the end.

⇩Please take this opportunity to watch "8 Recommended Tudor Models for 2021"⇩

① "Ranger" "Ref. 79950-0001"

List price: 371,800 yen (tax included)

This new model was released in 2022 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the British Navy's North Greenland Expedition, which took place from 1952 to 1954. It is a watch with a modern design that incorporates the design of the original model throughout. The original Ranger model, Ref. 7995, manufactured in the 1960s, had a case diameter of 34mm, which was slightly small by modern standards, but this reissue has a case diameter of 39mm. The movement is Cal. MT5402, which has a power reserve of about 70 hours and a silicon balance spring. It is available in three types: bracelet, leather strap, and fabric strap, but the bracelet version is recommended. It uses the T-fit quick-adjust clasp, which can be easily fine-tuned without tools, and the length of 8mm can be adjusted in five steps. The red tip of the second hand is an accent color, and the simple design with only the luminous color and the "RANGER" logo at 6 o'clock creates a vintage atmosphere. The price is also reasonable, making this a recommended model for daily use.

② "Black Bay Pro" "Ref. 79470-0001"

*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/tudor/blackbay-pro-218532/

List price: 486,200 yen (tax included)

This model, reminiscent of the original Rolex Explorer II Ref. 1655, was announced at Watches & Wonders Geneve 2022 in 2022 and features the so-called "snowflake" design, making it a popular model that is characteristic of Tudor. The vintage design, with its orange GMT hands, bezel design, domed sapphire crystal, and luminous color reminiscent of tritium, became a hot topic when it was announced. The movement is the Cal. MT5652, an in-house automatic movement that is also installed in the Black Bay GMT, which was released in Pepsi color in 2018. Many of today's popular models are mirror-finished to give them a beautiful and luxurious look, but the satin-finished case and bracelet make scratches less noticeable, making it perfect for daily use by those who use it a lot. Although it is currently difficult to find this product at authorized stores, it is a model with excellent cost performance, so we would definitely recommend it.

3. Submariner "Ref. 79090"

*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/tudor/submariner-203703/

This is the third generation Submariner released in 1989, and is said to be the last model to use Rolex parts along with the Ref. 79190. It is affectionately known as the "Chew Sub". It is a popular model that uses stainless steel for the case and bracelet, but uses blue for the bezel and dial, which is not available in Rolex. It features Mercedes hands, lollipop second hands, tritium indexes, a back cover (stamped ORIGINAL OYSTER CASE BY ROLEX GENEVE) and a crown crown supplied by Rolex, and the 39mm case that fits comfortably on the wrist is also inherited by the current Black Bay Fifty-Eight. The movement is equipped with the ETA Cal. 2824-2, which is known for its stability. Some of these have faded (ghost bezels) due to aging, and the fact that you can fully enjoy the semi-vintage atmosphere is also attractive, and the number of good ones in circulation is decreasing. Prices are gradually rising, so if you're looking for one, we recommend you get in quick.

④ "Chronotime" "Ref. 79160"

*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/tudor/chronotime-238503/

This model, which appeared as the third generation of Tudor chronographs and is affectionately nicknamed "Big Block" or "Kamaboko" due to its case shape, is also characterized by the case back (stamped "ORIGINAL OYSTER CASE BY ROLEX GENEVE") and crown crown supplied by Rolex, just like the "Ref. 79090". With a classic design reminiscent of the hand-wound "Daytona", it is still popular today. The bezels of the Chronotime series are available in three types: plastic tachymeter bezel, rotating bezel, and stainless steel bezel. The dial colors are also available in three colors: silver, black, and white, and are broadly divided into early and late models, with differences in the frame of the calendar disc and the shape of the index. The versatile yet reliable Valjoux "Cal. 7750" is a movement that can be maintained with peace of mind in the future. The market price has risen compared to a while ago, but with the increasing popularity of Tudor and the attention on semi-vintage, it is expected to gain further appreciation. This is a recommended product, including its future potential.

⑤ "Chronotime" "Ref. 79260"

*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/tudor/chronotime-232259/

This model has been changed from the rugged kamaboko case (big block) to a streamlined form similar to the popular Rolex model Daytona. It has a Rolex back and crown, and the dial is marked "Oyster Date". It is an early model. It is said that the early models were only produced for about one or two years, and the number of them in circulation is very small. The "Ref. 79260" was later marked "Princede Date", and both the back and crown were changed to Tudor specifications. This model also comes in three types: tachymeter bezel, rotating bezel, and stainless steel bezel. While the tachymeter bezel of the "Ref. 79160" is made of plastic, the "Ref. 79260" is made of aluminum. In terms of popular specifications, the order is tachymeter bezel > stainless steel bezel > rotating bezel. I think the order of dial colors is black > silver > white, but one of the fun things is finding your favorite combination. The unique lineup also includes a collaboration model with the famous professional golfer, Tiger Woods, which has "TIGER" written on the dial and fun, colorful dial colors.

⑥ "Black Bay GMT" "Ref. 79833MN-0001"

List price: 678,700 yen (tax included)

[Rolex] This is a popular model with GMT function released in 2022, reminiscent of the popular combination model "Ref. 126711CHNR" of "GMT Master II". It is very nice that it is reasonably priced while using 18K yellow gold, and has excellent cost performance. Tudor is unique in that it successfully keeps costs down by using 18K yellow gold in parts such as the crown and bezel. It is equipped with the new generation movement "Cal. MT5652" developed and manufactured in-house, which is chronometer certified, and has a power reserve of 70 hours, making it a highly practical watch. It is characterized by a 41mm case diameter and a shape reminiscent of a kamaboko case, and the combination color scheme exudes adult sexiness, making it a recommended model.

7. Black Bay Fifty-Eight "Ref. 79010SG-0001"

*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/tudor/blackbay-199435/

List price: 539,000 yen (tax included)

This watch, which was released in 2021 as a reissue design of the 1958 model, uses "silver 925" as the material and features a domed dial and sapphire crystal inspired by the early Tudor diver's watches. The current logo, a "shield" mark, is printed on the dial, and the crown is engraved with a "rose" derived from the brand name. "Silver 925" is used for the case, crown, and buckle, and the contrast with the brownish gray "taupe color" is very beautiful. The movement is equipped with the "Cal. MT5400" which boasts a power reserve of 70 hours, and can be viewed through the see-through back. Since silver is a delicate material, the bracelet version has not been released, but the shape of the lugs is the same as the "Black Bay Fifty-Eight" stainless steel model. It may be interesting to replace it with a stainless steel bracelet, whether genuine or non-genuine. This is a recommended watch that allows you to enjoy the aging of silver.

8. Black Bay Chrono "Ref. 79360N-0002"

*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/tudor/blackbay-chrono-238240/

List price: 646,800 yen (tax included)

This is a popular model released in 2021, with a black aluminum bezel and two counter-in-dial contrast in a "panda" color scheme. The chronograph with a rugged 41mm case has a design reminiscent of the Chronotime and Rolex Daytona. The movement is the same "Cal.MT5813" as the already discontinued "Ref.79350", and has a power reserve of approximately 70 hours. "Ref.79360" is available in three types: bracelet, band strap, and fabric strap, but we recommend the versatile bracelet version. The dial color is white, commonly known as the "panda dial", and black with a bold look. This model is very popular in our store, and the price is stable, so it is a recommended one.

9. Black Bay P01, Reference 70150-0001

List price: 499,400 yen (tax included)

Tudor, which had been supplying diver's watches (Submariners) to the US Navy since the late 1950s, began developing a new diver's watch in 1967 to meet the specifications required by the US government. This project, codenamed "Commando," never saw the light of day, but in 2019, after about 50 years, the prototype was released as the Black Bay P01. The most distinctive feature is the crown at the 4 o'clock position to reduce shock to the watch, and the hinged end links. It covers the joints and is designed to make it easier to disassemble the bezel, and also has a system to lock the bidirectional rotating bezel. The strap is a hybrid strap made of leather and rubber developed for the Black Bay P01. It has a slightly unique design and design, so it is a model that we recommend to Tudor fans who don't want to be covered by others.

10. Pelagos 39, Reference 25407N-0001

*Source: https://www.tudorwatch.com/ja/watches/pelagos/m25407n-0001

List price: 537,900 yen (tax included)

Released in September 2022, as if to coincide with the Geneva Watch Days, this model is a popular 39mm size from Tudor, made of lightweight and hypoallergenic titanium with a full satin finish. The Cal.MT5400 movement boasts a power reserve of approximately 70 hours, the bezel is made of black ceramic, and features a simple dial design without a date display. The bracelet features a T-fit quick-adjust clasp that can be easily fine-tuned without tools, and not only can the length be adjusted to 8 mm in five stages, but the clasp part is equipped with a 25 mm extension link so that it can be worn over a wetsuit. In addition, it comes with a black rubber strap and titanium buckle that can be attached using titanium end links. This black rubber strap has a cool design reminiscent of Rolex's Oysterflex. Many people may think that this is something that only Tudor, which is very good at incorporating good points, can do. I would be happy if they would increase the options for rubber straps for the Black Bay and other models in the future.

summary

What did you think.

I think that every model has the three elements of good price, good design, and good functionality, but the current models in particular are all watches that are recommended for daily use and can be used a lot. And as the current models become more popular, I think that Tudor, like Rolex, will attract more and more attention to its vintage and semi-vintage models. There is a lot to look forward to in that regard.

Once again, I hope this article helps you find your favorite one.

see you!
