The Royal Oak was designed by Gerald Genta, a genius designer in the watch industry, and was born in 1972. This model is the first leather strap series of the Royal Oak, released in 1994, and is a luxurious piece with an 18KYG (yellow gold) case and a rare salmon dial. The 36mm case is one size smaller than the case size of recent Royal Oaks, making it easy to wear on Japanese wrists and giving off an elegant impression.

The watch that YM purchased was the "Ref. 116506A," which was released in 2013 as a model commemorating the 50th anniversary of the birth of the Daytona.

The most distinctive feature of this model is the chestnut-colored Cerachrom bezel and ice blue dial, which are only available in the platinum model, and it is a sports model that is at the top of the regular models. In 2023, the 60th anniversary of the birth of the Daytona, a model change was made, and the "Ref. 116506A" was also discontinued. The new Daytona "Ref. 126506A" has a chestnut-colored subdial, so this model with an ice blue subdial is one to look forward to in the future.
