Kevin Costner was selected to play the lead role in " The Untouchables " (1987), which depicted the battle between legendary mafia boss Al Capone and the IRS, and this film propelled him to stardom. There, Jay meets Tibby's young and beautiful wife Miriella. The two instantly fall in love, but when Tibby discovers his wife's betrayal, he inflicts mortal injury on Jay and sells Miriella to a brothel. Jay, who survives while wandering on the brink of death, vows to take revenge on Tibby.

" Revenge " (1990) depicts the forbidden romance between a retired military pilot and a married woman, and the tragedy and revenge that ensues from there. Kevin Costner, who plays Jay, a man who risks his life to seek revenge for the woman he loves, wears a Rolex Submariner (Ref. 16610) .
The former superior officer of the one who is the target of revenge, played by the great actor Anthony Quinn, also wears a Rolex Datejust (presumably Reference 16233) . The contrast between the robust Submariner and the elegant Datejust highlights both the characters of the "avengers" and the "targets of revenge."

" 13 Days " (2000) is a political drama that depicts the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962, when tensions between the US and the Soviet Union rose and the country was on the brink of nuclear war. Kevin Costner, who played the presidential aide Kenneth O'Donnell in this film, is wearing a watch that appears to be a Hamilton Jazzmaster . As an aide to the US President, he is well suited to the role, wearing a Hamilton dress watch, which is as much a symbol of America as a Timex.
We were unable to identify the model, but it appears to be somewhat large for a 1960s watch, so it may be a model that was sold at the time of filming (the late 1990s), rather than during the 1960s, when the story is set.

Kevin Costner plays the lead role in an action movie for the first time in a long while, co-starring with Amber Heard, who is currently in the spotlight for her lawsuit against Johnny Depp, in " The Last Stand ." In this film, Kevin Costner wears a Rolex Explorer II (Ref. 1655) . If you look closely, you'll notice that the second hand is a straight hand without a luminous dot (circle). In other words, this Explorer II is likely a rare model from the early production period between 1971 and 1972.
It's common for watch enthusiasts to get excited by the fantasy of a veteran CIA agent still wearing the Explorer II he bought in his younger days as his life's companion.

Kevin Costner was a 32-year-old young star when " The Untouchables " was released in 1987, but by the time " The Last Mission " was released in 2014, he was a dignified "late 59-year-old." There is no denying that he has a slightly "vintage feel" to playing an action movie hero, but the years he has accumulated give him a melancholy and mature acting style that was not present in his younger days, adding a flavor to the film.
This is exactly the same logic as how aging gives a watch its vintage charm . It can be said that the aging that occurs over a long period of time on people and objects gives depth of expression and atmosphere to an actor's performance and to a watch in the same way.
Of course, I also admire such " high-quality vintage " seniors, but I ignore the words of an acquaintance who told me that it's impossible because the quality of the base materials is too different.
