"Actor's Watch" focuses on watches worn by actors in movies, television, etc.
In this, our 129th installment, we will be introducing watches that appear in the much talked about new film, " Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny ."
"Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" (2023) is the first new release in 15 years since the previous film "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull " (2008). Harrison Ford, who was in his 30s when he appeared in the first film in the series, " Raiders of the Lost Ark " (1981), is now 81 years old. With this film, Harrison Ford will graduate from his role as Indiana Jones, and the series will come to a happy conclusion.

To be honest, I was a little worried about whether it would really be okay for Harrison Ford to play the role, even though he is over 80 years old, but as a fan who has seen all the films in the series, I couldn't ignore it. So I went to see it at the theater right away.
In this issue of "Actor's Watch," we will be taking a closer look at the wristwatch that appears in " Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate ," the latest and final Indiana Jones film.
Summary of "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate"

In 1944, just before the end of World War II, American archaeologist Professor Indiana Jones ( Harrison Ford ) and his best friend, archaeologist Buzz, infiltrate a train bound for Berlin to retrieve the Spear of Longinus, a hidden treasure plundered by the Nazis. The Spear of Longinus they discover on the train is a fake, but instead they succeed in recapturing one half of the Antikythera Dial, an ancient calculator said to have been invented by Archimedes, from the Nazis.
Fast forward to 1969. Professor Indiana Jones has retired from the university, and Buzz's daughter Helena ( Phoebe Waller-Bridge ) appears before him. The two embark on an adventure to find the other half of the Antikythera Dial and Archimedes' tomb. However, they encounter a German scientist named Forrer ( Mads Mikkelsen ) who is trying to get the Antikythera Dial again to revive the Nazis.

Of course, Harrison Ford plays the "fighting archaeologist" Professor Indiana Jones in this film. 42 years have passed since " Raiders of the Lost Ark " (1981). Professor Indy's long journey will finally come to an end with this film.
Harrison Ford is now over 80 years old and can't do the same kind of action scenes as he did in the past, but there are plenty of scenes that make you think, "This is Indiana Jones!", such as an intense chase scene using vehicles familiar to the series. I think this movie is worth watching not only for long-time fans of the series, but also for young movie fans.

The watch worn by Professor Indiana Jones, played by Harrison Ford in this film, is the Hamilton American Classic Bolton ( Ref. H13431553 Unfortunately, there was no footage showing the case or dial, but the Hamilton website states that Professor Indy is wearing this watch.
The story of this work begins in 1944 , at the end of World War II, and ends in 1969, the year of the Apollo 11 moon landing. The Bolton , which was released in the 1940s and has had almost no changes to its design since then, is a watch that looks good in any scene. This model, which has a particularly traditional color scheme among Hamilton, a leading American watch manufacturer, seems to symbolize the over 40-year history of the Indiana Jones series.
Antonio Banderas' watch

Renaldo, a skilled diver who welcomes Professor Indy and Helena to the Mediterranean in search of Archimedes' tomb, and helps them on their adventure, is played by the famous Spanish actor Antonio Banderas , who is an old friend of Indy.
Actually, I didn't realize that Antonio Banderas played the role until I saw his name in the credits. I'm still stuck in the image of him in his 30s in " Desperado " (1995), but the fact that Harrison Ford has aged means that Antonio Banderas and I, the audience, have aged too (seriously).

The watch worn by Renaldo, played by Antonio Banderas in this film, is the Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba (Ref. H82515330) . Unfortunately, there are very few scenes in which he is seen wearing it, but Hamilton shops are promoting it as the "model worn by Antonio Banderas."
Hamilton's "Khaki Navy" is water resistant to 300m , making it a diver's watch with sufficient specifications for diving. It's a fitting choice for Renaldo, a skilled diver.
Mads Mikkelsen's watch

The German scientist Dr. Jurgen Forrer, who steals one half of the " Antikythera Dial " from Professor Indy in order to revive the Nazis, and tries to find the other half, is played by Mads Mikkelsen , known as the "Treasure of Scandinavia." He stands in the way of Professor Indy as a villain who combines intelligence, madness and dandyism.
Even when the professor fights back, Dr. Forrer remains calm and, like a scientist, makes logical decisions and corners the professor. His performance is reminiscent of his role as Le Chiffre, the brilliant science and math villain from " 007 Casino Royale " (2006), and the intelligent psychopath Dr. Lecter from the TV drama " Hannibal " (2013).

The most notable watch worn in the film is that of Dr. Forrer, played by Mads Mikkelsen, but the watch he wears is also related to the story and would be a spoiler, so I won't mention it here. Instead, I would like to introduce the watch he wore at the London premiere of the film, the Chopard Alpine Eagle XL Chrono (Ref. 295387-9001) .
The combination of a navy blue suit with no tie and a sporty rose gold chronograph from Chopard, a jeweler, is the epitome of the " world's most stylish man ." It is a luxurious and sexy look that deserves to be called "luxurious and sexy."
Mads Mikkelsen's sexy, intelligent performance as the villain makes this a gorgeous, blockbuster movie. I'm glad he's Professor Indy's final enemy.
summary
What did you think?
There were some concerns about " Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate " such as the aging cast, poor reviews of the previous film, and a change of director, but upon actually watching it, all those worries are blown away as it is an entertaining film worthy of being the finale to the series.

The Indiana Jones series, along with Star Wars , is a historic work that laid the foundation for the development of the modern American film industry. It seems only natural that Hamilton , America's leading watch manufacturer, would sponsor the final film in the series. It is by no means an expensive watch, but it is perhaps the most appropriate for a film that symbolizes America , a country built not by feudal royalty and aristocracy, but by ordinary people who sought freedom.
Well, that aside, I would like to conclude by telling you just this one thing.
" Thank you so much, Harrison Ford! "
see you!
