Good evening everyone.
Today, we would like to introduce two new stainless steel models of the Ref. 5711, the ever-popular Nautilus model, which we briefly mentioned at the end of the 95th Patek Philippe Theory: the Ref. 5711/1A-001 and the Ref. 5711/1A-010.

The first Nautilus, commonly known as the "Jumbo" Ref. 3700/1, was released in 1976 as a two-hand (hour and minute) model equipped with the Jaeger-LeCoultre-based movement Cal. 28-255C. 30 years have passed since then, and in 2006, to celebrate its 30th anniversary, the 5711/1A-001 was released with a stainless steel case, black-blue dial, three hands (hours, minutes, seconds), and the automatic movement Cal. 324 SC.

As an aside, let's go back about four years. In 1972, Audemars Piguet released the first Royal Oak "Jumbo" Ref. 5402ST, a two-hand (hour and minute) model equipped with the Jaeger-LeCoultre-based movement "Cal. 2121," designed by Gerald Genta, the same designer as the Nautilus.
The Royal Oak Extra-Thin was released as a reissue model in 2012, which also marked the 40th anniversary of the watch's birth, and is still very popular and has a high price. In order to faithfully reproduce the original model, it is equipped with the famous movement "Cal. 2121" and inherited the two-hand model.

Returning to the topic, this black-blue dial is modern, yet has a classic color that reminds me of the original Nautilus, Ref. 3700. When it was later changed to Ref. 5711/1A-010, it became even more blue and glossy .

In addition to the difference in color, the width of the embossing has been changed, which has also resulted in the size and position of the words “PATEK PHILIPPE GENEVE” written in two lines.
The bracelet links are screw-type on both sides, but later changed to pin-type that is removed by knocking them out in the minor change "Ref.5711/1A-010". (*In the early days when the reference was changed, there were also screw-type models.)
I have never actually compared the thickness of the bracelets, but the screw-on bracelet seems to be slightly thicker. If I have the opportunity, I would like to compare them.
The automatic movement "Cal.324 SC" that beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour, which can be seen through the skeleton back of the "Ref.5711/1A-001", is engraved with the Geneva Seal. The period in which the Geneva Seal movement was adopted is short, so this is a recommended point.
[What is the Geneva Seal?]
It is a long-established quality standard established in 1886 with the aim of protecting and certifying the authenticity of Geneva-made movements, which boast excellent functionality and high aesthetic quality. There are 12 regulations, such as the chamfering of bridges and the thickness of escape wheels, and obtaining the Geneva Seal is proof that the movement is made using traditional techniques and has high aesthetic quality, and only a handful of watchmakers are able to obtain this certification.
The movement "Cal.324 SC" installed in "Ref.5711/1A-010" is engraved with the PP (Patek Philippe) Seal, which was created in 2009 and has extremely high and strict certification standards that exceed those of the Geneva Seal. It is said to be one of the most stringent quality standards in the watch industry.
The warranty date for "Ref.5711/1A-001" is 2009. The outer box is not included, but a box with a sticker with the serial number (movement, case) that is now difficult to obtain is included. Other than that, the pass case and booklets are in good condition.
The selling price is 26,378,000 yen (tax included)
Although there are some scratches and scuffs due to use, the edges of the case and bezel are sharp, and the case and bracelet give a solid impression, making this a good piece.
The warranty date for "Ref. 5711/1A-010" is 2011. The pass case, booklets, and box are in good condition. The watch was overhauled and finished by the manufacturer in January 2022, so there are nearly two years left of the manufacturer's repair assistance period.
The selling price is 26,950,000 yen (tax included)
There are some inconspicuous scratches on parts of the case and bezel that could not be removed by polishing, but other parts are in good condition with no noticeable scratches.
summary
What did you think.
In the previous article on Patek Philippe, we looked at the "Ref. 5711/1R-001" and "Ref. 5990/1A-001". And now we look at the "Ref. 5711". I think you can see that the market price of the Nautilus in general is rising at a tremendous pace.
In the midst of all of this, many people are curious about the future of the "Ref.5711" series, all of whose materials have been discontinued, and I am curious about it too. Considering the future outlook, it's not easy to say it's cheap, but that just shows how curious about its future trends = high demand... it might be a good chance to buy. If you are interested, please feel free to come to our store or call us for a consultation.
Recently, not only the Nautilus and Aquanaut, but also dressy models with leather straps have been selling well. I am very happy about this, and I hope to be able to deliver as many Patek Philippe watches as possible to everyone.
see you!
