hello everyone.

This time, we will talk about Patek Philippe watches based on the results of the auction held by CHRISTIE'S in Hong Kong on Saturday, November 27th.

*The price is the winning auction price plus a commission fee (25%).
*The exchange rate for Japanese yen will be based on the rate immediately prior to the auction.
*HKD (Hong Kong Dollar) = 15.17 yen *All images are from CHRISTIE'S

Lot.2340
Aquanaut Japan Blue SS
Reference 5066A-010

HKD 750,000 (JPY 11,377,500)

This "medium" size Aquanaut was also put up for auction at the PHILLIPS auction in Geneva, and was sold in 1998 for the Japanese market in a limited run of 1,000 pieces. The matte blue dial and the slightly burnt indexes and luminous hands are exquisite and cool. The tropical band of the same color as the dial, which is exclusive to this model, is a perfect match. It sold for a steady 10 million yen at this auction. It also comes with a warranty, making it perfect for any collection.

Lot.2342
AQUANOT TIFFANY SS
Reference 5167/1A-001

HKD 875,000 (JPY 13,273,750)

This is a "TIFFANY & CO." double name model of the current "Aquanaut" extra large, SS (stainless steel) bracelet specification "Ref. 5167/1A-001", and it is a great deal with a tropical band. The apologetic logo is cute (lol). The price of the regular model has been rising recently, so I think this price is good for a double name.

Lot.2352
Nautilus SS
Reference 3700/1

HKD 1,000,000 (JPY 15,170,000)

The first Nautilus, commonly known as "Jumbo", was released in 1976. This is the "Ref. 3700/1" manufactured in 1977, which is a relatively early model according to the archives. The dial has aged over time to look "tropical", but the change has not been that beautiful, which is why I think this was the winning bid. As expected, the condition of a vintage watch is very important.

Lot.2353
Nautilus 18KYG
Reference 3700/1

HKD 1,500,000 (JPY 22,755,000)

This is the "jumbo" size "Ref.3700/1" in 18KYG (yellow gold). The dial appears to have been replaced, but 18KYG cases are scarce and expensive. Even at overseas auctions, they are less common than SS (stainless steel) cases.

Lot.2355
Nautilus SS
Reference 5711/1A-014

HKD 3,250,000 (JPY 49,302,500)

The green dial Nautilus Ref. 5711/1A-014 was announced as a new model for 2021. There are so few of these on the market that some people are wondering if production has already ended. The price is surprisingly high compared to the official retail price, but I think it is an interesting model with great potential. We also have one on display at Commit Ginza, so please stop by if you are in the area.

Lot.2357
10 Days Platinum
Reference 5100P-001

HKD 350,000 (JPY 5,309,500)

The 10-day "Ref. 5100" was released in limited edition to commemorate the millennium (2000). The unique case design is said to have been inspired by the "Ref. 2554" released in the 1950s, and is also known as the "Manta Ray". The case was released in four materials (Yellow Gold, Red Gold, White Gold, and PT), but this Platinum version was produced in the smallest number of units, with only 300 pieces, and the dial is also black, making it ideal for a collection. Since the only accessories included were archives, I think the winning bid was reasonable.

Lot.2368
Perpetual Calendar Chronograph 18KYG
Reference 3970

HKD 1,625,000 (JPY 24,651,250)

The perpetual calendar chronograph "Ref. 3970" is a masterpiece by Patek Philippe, equipped with a Lemania-based movement. This is a model from the 1st series, which is said to be produced in limited quantities of about 100 pieces, and the case back is a snap-back specification, and the combination of leaf hands and baton indexes gives off a classic atmosphere. I feel that the winning bid amount has increased considerably, and I think that the demand for Lemania-based movements is also increasing, so it is interesting that such a limited number of models has a future potential.

Lot.2371
Perpetual Calendar Chronograph 18KWG
Reference 5970G-001

HKD 1,125,000 (JPY 17,066,250)

As with the previous model, this is a perpetual calendar chronograph equipped with a Lemania-based movement. This is the final model, the "Ref. 5970". The 18KWG (white gold) case was announced at Baselworld in 2004 along with the 18KRG (rose gold) case. Commit Ginza also handled the 18KRG (rose gold) version relatively recently, but it is one of the models that has become increasingly rare in recent times.

Lot.2372
Perpetual calendar split-second chronograph 18KYG
Reference 5004J-012

HKD 1,875,000(JPY 28,443,750)

The "Ref. 5004" is a perpetual calendar split-second chronograph equipped with a Lemania-based movement, said to have been manufactured from 1994 to around 2010. It is a rare model that is hard to find on the market due to its small production numbers. This is an extremely rare item, with the warranty dated 2011. It is in good condition and comes with all the accessories, so I was secretly planning to bid on it, but I ended up losing (lol).

Lot.2375
Perpetual Calendar Split Second Chronograph Platinum
Reference 5204P-011

HKD 1,500,000 (JPY 22,755,000)

The "Ref. 5204" was announced as the successor to the "Ref. 5004" introduced earlier. When it was first announced, it was only available with a silver dial, but this black dial was announced at Basel in 2014. It has been sold at Commit, and the combination of a platinum case and black dial is especially cool. Unfortunately, there is no platinum version of the "Ref. 5204" in the current lineup. For the winning bid price... I wanted it (lol)

summary

What did you think.

This time, we focused on current and relatively current models. As we mentioned in the previous Patek theory, auctions often bring in surprising prices, but it was surprising to see that the prices were generally more reasonable than the market average.

We will continue to report on the results of overseas auctions on Patek Theory.

Please look forward to the next time.
see you!
