hello everyone.

This time, we will talk about Patek Philippe watches based on the results of the PHILLIPS watch auction held in Geneva, Switzerland on Friday, November 5th and Sunday, November 7th. My brief impression is that there was a "fairly abundant harvest." We will also be featuring models that you don't usually get to see, so please enjoy until the end.

*The price is the winning bid price plus commission (26%).

Lot.39
Perpetual Calendar Split Second Chronograph 18KRG
Reference 5204/1R-001

CHF 226,800 (JPY 28,477,008)

This current model is equipped with a perpetual calendar and split-second chronograph, and is made of 18KRG with a black dial and a bracelet, making it a very cool watch. Commit has sold it and we have seen it in person, and the aura it gives off is incredible. The official domestic retail price is 39,270,000 yen (tax included), so I think it was a great deal.

Lot.40
Minute Repeater Tourbillon 18KYG
Reference 3939J-001

CHF 384,300 (JPY 48,252,708)

The Ref. 3939 is an incredible model that was produced from 1993 to 2009 and is equipped with a minute repeater and tourbillon. The enamel dial and the movement that fills the case and can be seen through the skeleton back on a slightly small 33mm diameter case are so beautiful that you will be drawn in just by looking at them. The tone of the Patek Philippe minute repeater is so beautiful that you will be mesmerized. The warranty date is 2005, so it is a high-year model, which is also recommended.

Lot.59
Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Platinum
Reference 3970E

CHF 132,300 (JPY 16,611,588)

This is Patek Philippe's representative perpetual calendar chronograph "Ref. 3970" equipped with a Lemania-based movement. It's hard to find these days, but the platinum case and the sleek black dial with the modest diamond indexes give it a mature feel. There doesn't seem to be a warranty included, but the case seems to be in good condition.

Lot.60
Aquanaut Chronograph 18KWG
Reference 5968G-010

CHF 201,600 (JPY 25,312,896)

The new 2021 Aquanaut Chronograph has already appeared at auction. I haven't actually seen the watch yet, but looking at the overseas sales market, it's easily priced at over 20 million yen, and the auction result was a winning bid that lived up to expectations. However, to be honest, I didn't expect the winning bid to be this high.

Lot.61
Calatrava SS
Reference 570

CHF 315,000 (JPY 39,551,400)

Among the antique Patek Philippe Calatravas, the Ref. 570 is popular for its large 36mm diameter. The combination of a stainless steel case, three-tone dial and Breguet numerals on the indexes makes it a rare item known only to those in the know, and the winning bid price is unquestionable. As some of you may have noticed, the dial resembles that of the current Calatrava Ref. 5196P-001 with a platinum case, which is currently in stock at Commit (as of November 15th). This is because it is inspired by the dials of this era.

Lot.62
Nautilus Chronograph 18KWG
Reference 5976/1G-001

CHF 604,800 (JPY 75,938,688)

The "Ref. 5976/1G-001" was sold in 2016, the 40th anniversary of the Nautilus, with a limited run of 1,300 pieces. It is the largest Nautilus model, with a case diameter of 44mm and an impressive weight of over 300g for its 18KWG (white gold) case and bracelet. This special edition model features a vibrant blue color, baguette-cut diamond indexes, and the embossed "1976-40-2016" on the dial. What's surprising is that it was delivered from the manufacturer in a completely sealed (double-sealed) condition, and the winning bid price is a reasonable price to justify that.

Lot.63
Perpetual Calendar Chronograph 18KYG
Reference 2499

CHF 3,539,000 (JPY 444,356,840)

This is the first series of the second generation of Patek Philippe's perpetual calendar chronograph, the Ref. 2499. It is one of the most popular Ref. 2499s, and is a rare model with a small production run. It features a tachymeter scale on the outer periphery of the dial and square chronograph buttons. What's amazing about this watch is not only its condition, but also that it is a double name with Serpico Y Laino, a famous Patek Philippe retailer in Venezuela, and the bracelet is also stamped with the retailer's name. Although it was a surprising bid price, I think it was also a reasonable price. I wonder if I'll ever see it again? It's such a gem of a watch.

Lot.69
Nautilus SS
Reference 5711/1A-010

CHF 113,400 (JPY 14,238,504)

The Ref. 5711/1A-010 with a stainless steel case was released in 2006 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Nautilus. It is a classic Nautilus model, and it is no exaggeration to say that it is the most popular, so it needs no explanation. Another point is that the warranty date is 2016, which is a relatively old model. Looking at the auction price this time, it seems that the market price is stable internationally. This black and blue dial is a long-selling model that has been in production for about 15 years, but if the Nautilus is renewed next year or later, I think the price will rise even more than before. Perhaps now is the time to buy.

Lot.72
Nautilus Baguette Cut Diamond Bezel Platinum
Reference 5711/110P

CHF 630,000 (JPY 79,102,800)

The "Ref. 5711/110P" is not listed in the current catalog and is said to be sold only to selected customers, so its existence is unknown. It is a special model with a platinum case and baguette-cut diamond indexes on the dial and bezel. Although I have not actually seen it, it seems to also be available in sapphire, ruby, and emerald versions. I think one of the great things about an auction is being able to see and learn about models that you normally cannot see.

Lot.73
Nautilus 18KYG
Reference 3700/11

CHF 226,800 (JPY 28,477,008)

The first Nautilus "Ref. 3700", commonly known as "Jumbo", was an 18KYG (yellow gold) case model.
This is also mentioned in the Patek Philippe archives, but it is a rare model with 112 diamonds set on two sides of the bezel. The "Jumbo" with a stainless steel case is rarely seen outside of auctions, but the 18KYG (yellow gold) case is even rarer. The condition of the case and bracelet of this model seems to be good, which I think is a major factor in influencing the winning bid, but considering the recent popularity of the Nautilus, I think the winning bid was a natural one.

Lot.74
Nautilus Petite Complication TIFFANY&CO. SS
Reference 5712/1A-001

CHF 214,200 (JPY 26,894,952)

The "Ref. 5712/1A-001" is a popular long-selling model with a stainless steel case and a petite complication. This is a rare "TIFFANY & Co." double-name model, and the warranty date is August 2016, so it is a relatively old model. Commit also sells new models with a warranty date of 2021, and I think those who purchased them got a great deal.

Lot.76
Perpetual Calendar Moon Phase Platinum
Reference 5236P-001

CHF 170,100 (JPY 21,357,756)

The 2021 new model, the Platinum case perpetual calendar moon phase "Ref. 5236P-001". I wonder if I'm the only one who was reminded of the popular model "Ref. 3448", which was released in 1962 and is said to be the first wristwatch in the world to feature an automatic movement in a perpetual calendar. The design, which pays homage to past masterpieces and displays the day of the week, date, and month in three rows, is modern and very innovative. The black-graded blue dial is very beautiful, and it is a model that we would like to handle at Commit. The official domestic sales price is 14,949,000 yen (tax included), so considering the winning bid amount, it is clear that this model is attracting a lot of attention.

summary

A wide range of Patek Philippe watches, from antique to current models, were on sale, and we couldn't cover them all in this article, so we'll continue to report on the results of the PHILLIPS auction next time. We believe that being able to see extraordinary models and rare antique watches that you normally can't see is something that only an overseas auction can offer, so please look forward to the next Patek theory!

see you!
