hello everyone.

Although it is still cold on some days, the number of days that feel like spring has increased. I can't help but look forward to the coming season when we will be showing off our arms more often (laughs).

Well, this time we would like to introduce the 18KWG (white gold) version of the classic Patek Philippe icon, the Calatrava Ref. 5196, which has arrived for the first time in a long time. We will also introduce the Travel Time Ref. 5134, another Calatrava derivative model that is now out of production.

"Ref.5196G-001" Calatrava 18KWG

This "Ref. 5196G-001" was released in 2004 as the successor to the "Ref. 3796".

The case diameter has been increased from 30mm to 37mm, but the movement remains the same, "Cal.215 PS." The materials used are 18KYG (yellow gold), 18KRG (rose gold), 18KWG (white gold), and PT (platinum).

It is only available in platinum (PT), and has a diamond embedded at the 6 o'clock position on the case. The dial is a combination of two-tone Breguet numerals and leaf hands. This model is made of 18K white gold (WG), which is a very versatile case color, and the grayish silver dial gives a cool and stylish impression.

The case and buckle have some wear and small scratches due to use, but the edges are sharp and give a solid impression. Recently, I purchased a new glossy machine-stitched black alligator strap and WG (white gold) spring bars from Patek Philippe .

Although it is a popular classic model, it has been hard to find it in official stores recently, and the price on the second-hand market has been rising.

The selling price is ¥1,980,000 (tax included) .

The official domestic retail price is 2,827,000 yen (tax included), so I think this is a great deal.

How about the timeless Patek Philippe flagship model "Ref. 5196"? It comes with all the accessories and is a recommended item.

"Ref.5134" Travel Time 18KWG

The "Ref. 5034" was announced in 2001 as the successor to the "Ref. 5034," and was manufactured until around 2009 with changes to the dial and hands. This is just my personal opinion, but I really like the combination of the Breguet numeral applique index and leaf hands, which are stylish yet sophisticated.

The movement is the "Cal.215 PS FUS" with a time zone mechanism, based on the hand-wound "Cal.215 PS" also found in the aforementioned Calatrava "Ref.5196".

To set the time, set the home time while looking at the linked 24-hour counter at the 12 o'clock position. To adjust the local time, use the upper and lower buttons on the side of the watch at 9 o'clock. Pressing the lower button (8 o'clock position) moves the time clockwise, and pressing the upper button (10 o'clock position) moves the time counterclockwise by one hour.

The box shows signs of wear due to age, but all accessories are included.

As for the selling price, it is ¥2,178,000 (tax included) .

As production has already ended, we are unable to disclose the current official domestic retail price, but considering that it has a Calatrava-based case, a Travel Time mechanism, and a folding buckle, we believe it is a great value watch.

The World Time, which we have introduced many times, is a watch with an extremely advanced mechanism, but unfortunately, it is off by one hour during daylight saving time.

In that respect, the Travel Time checks the time while adjusting for the time difference between home time and local time, so it is not affected by daylight saving time and there are no problems. Once again, I was impressed by how well made the watch is (lol).
