hello everyone.

Today, December 15th (Tuesday) was held in New York.

I would like to write about Patek Philippe watches based on the results of the Sotheby's watch auction.

As this was the last watch auction of the year, there were many models that were already popular before the auction, highly collectible models, and watches from periods considered antiques. Please enjoy until the very end.

*The price is the winning auction price plus a commission fee (26%).
*The Japanese yen rate will be based on the exchange rate immediately prior to the auction.
 *USD = 105.12 yen

Lot.33 Perpetual Calendar Chronograph 18KYG Ref.2499/100

USD 818,600 (JPY 86,051,232)

This is the fourth generation (4th series) of the perpetual calendar chronograph "Ref. 2499," and its features include the use of sapphire crystal and an increased bezel thickness (height). The reference is also "2499/100." As you can see from the moon phase at the 6 o'clock position, this is a double-name model with "TIFFANY & CO.", a retailer that has built a good partnership with [Patek Philippe] . This model was sold at a very high price, which is very rare.

Lot.61 World Time Moon Phase 18KWG 175th Anniversary Model Limited to 1300 pieces worldwide Ref.5575G-001

USD 100,800 (JPY 10,596,096)

[Patek Philippe] The model "Ref. 5575G-001" was released to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the company's founding. This model combines world time with moon phase, and is a cool watch no matter when you look at it. It has a stable winning bid price at auctions.

Lot.62 Calatrava Pilot SS Ref.5522A-001

USD 44,100 (JPY 4,635,792)

The special model "Ref. 5522A-001" was announced at the Watch Art Grand Exhibition New York 2017, limited to 600 pieces. It features a dial reminiscent of a vintage Patek Philippe Aviator, and a large 42mm stainless steel case, which is rare for the Calatrava collection, which has a strong classical and elegant image. It was also put up for auction at Phillips in New York on Saturday the 12th, where it sold for a similar price. To be honest, I had been hoping to win this one as well, but the amount I was hoping to win was quickly exceeded (lol).

Lot.67 Aquanaut Travel Time TIFFANY&CO. 18KRG Ref.5164R-001

USD 138,600 (JPY 14,569,632)

Aquanaut Travel Time 18KRG (rose gold) case "5164R". The regular model has become hard to come by recently, but this is a rare double-name model with "TIFFANY&CO." Due to the price hike of the regular model, the double-name model also sold at a stable high price.

Lot.114 Minute Repeater Platinum Ref.5078P-001

USD 252,000 (JPY 26,490,240)

It is no exaggeration to say that the Patek Philippe minute repeater model "Ref. 5078P-001" is the pinnacle of luxury watches. This minute repeater model is a dream for any collector, and the white enamel dial features beautifully baked-in Roman numeral indexes and railway scale, making it a sophisticated Patek Philippe- like masterpiece. Looking at the successful bid price, I think it was a reasonable price. Commit has sold this watch in the past, and it is one that we would definitely like to handle again.

Lot.115 Perpetual Calendar Minute Repeater 18KRG Ref.5074R-012

USD 415,800 (JPY 43,708,896)

The "Ref. 5074R-012" is a minute repeater with a perpetual calendar, and has an impressive case diameter of 42mm for a Patek Philippe , and a heavy 18KRG (rose gold) case. I actually bid on this one in real time, but the price exceeded my desired amount, so I gave up.

Lot.116 Split-second Chronograph Platinum Ref.5370P-001

USD 182,700 (JPY 19,205,424)

The Ref. 5370P-001 is the first split-second chronograph model since the Ref. 5959, which was released in 2016. The black enamel dial features neat and cool Breguet numeral appliqués, and the 41mm platinum case makes a big impact, including its weight. I think the winning bid was reasonable.

Lot.117 Perpetual Calendar Chronosplit Platinum Ref.5372P-010

USD 378,000 (JPY 39,735,360)

The perpetual calendar chrono split "Ref. 5372P" was announced as a new model in 2017.
The first thing you notice is the moon phase at the 12 o'clock position. The price is listed as "Price on request," so you can see that it is a model that is difficult to purchase normally. I have never actually held the watch in my hands, so I think it is only at an auction that a model like this comes up.

Lot.175 Perpetual Calendar Chronograph 18KWG Ref.5970G-001

USD 151,200 (JPY 15,894,144)

The Ref. 5970 was announced as the successor to the perpetual calendar chronograph Ref. 3970. It has been over 10 years since production ended, but it is a very cool watch with an exquisite balance in every aspect. Until recently, it was sometimes seen on the market, but it is a watch that is rarely seen these days. It is one of the watches that we would like to sell at Commit in the near future.

Lot.176 Perpetual Calendar Chronosplit Platinum Ref.5004P-021

USD 239,400 (JPY 25,165,728)

The "Ref.5004P-021" is a silver dial version of the popular perpetual calendar chrono split "Ref.5004" equipped with a Lemania movement. I think the fact that the warranty date is December 2015 is also a big plus point. Of all the Patek Philippe watches, this is my favorite. I was considering bidding on this one, but my wish was not granted. (lol)

summary

Those were the results for the Patek Philippe watches that caught my eye at the Sotheby's auction held in New York on Tuesday, December 15th. What did you think?

This was the last auction of the year, and the previous auctions had been very exciting, so I think the overall results were high.

Not just for Patek Philippe , but the world auctions are always fun. I will continue to report on the world auctions next year, so please look forward to them.

see you!
