In 2014, to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the founding of Patek Philippe, the "World Time Moon Phase" "Ref. 5575G-001" was released in a limited edition of 1,300 pieces worldwide.
This is a model that I have been in love with and have been focusing on handling since the establishment of our store, along with the World Time Cloisonné. It has been attracting a lot of attention since its release, and it is still popular even now, 10 years after its release. In addition, since this model, no World Time watches equipped with a moon phase have been released, so it is no exaggeration to say that this is a special one.
This watch adds a high-precision moon phase mechanism to the already complicated world time mechanism. The central subdial depicts a starry sky, with a large beautiful moon. It is a completely different design from the "moon" seen in previous moon phase models, as if you were looking at a real moon. This is said to be created by layering a metal coating on an extremely thin glass, which represents the beautiful shadows of the moon. The technical ability of Patek Philippe, which easily creates innovative things, can be summed up in one word: amazing.
The hour hand, which is based on the Southern Cross motif and catches your eye when you look at the watch, matches the design of the in-dial nicely. Also, in the case of the regular "World Time" model, the city name on the outer edge is written as "PARIS", but in this model it has been changed to "GENEVA". Such specification changes are only possible with limited edition models. It's one of a kind and it's great.
The design that flows from the case to the lugs, which is not seen in any of the modern "World Time" models released after 2000, such as "Ref. 5110", "Ref. 5130" and "Ref. 5230", is very impactful and cool. I think the case diameter of 39.8mm is just the right size when worn on the wrist.
This 175th anniversary model also has a special case back. The closed case back is engraved with three lines: "PATEK PHILIPPE GENEVE", "175 Anniversaire", and "1839 - 2014". Unfortunately, you cannot see the "Cal. 240 HU LU", which adds a moon phase mechanism to the world time mechanism. To be honest, I would have liked it to have a sapphire crystal case back, like the "Nautilus TIFFANY" "Ref. 5711/1A-018". (laughs)
As this is a special model released to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the company's founding, it comes with an "ATTESTATION (limited edition) certificate". In addition, it also comes with a commemorative medal, which was also included with the "Ref. 3960" "Calatrava Officer" released to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the company's founding, and the "Ref. 5100" "10 Days" released in the millennium (2000).
All accessories are included, including a limited edition certificate, commemorative medal, warranty card, special inner and outer boxes for the 175th anniversary model, a setting pin for adjusting the moon phase, and a tag with a serial number.
