The third generation Aquanaut, Ref. 5167A-001, was released in 2007 with an "extra large" size (40.8mm) and a tropical band.
It has been almost 20 years since its release, but it is a long-selling model that has never lost its popularity. It seems to be getting more and more popular every year, and it is no exaggeration to say that it is almost impossible to purchase this model at an authorized dealer in Japan.
You can imagine that this model is even rarer when it is a "double name" with Tiffany & Co., but in fact, we have sold this model in the past with both a stainless steel bracelet and a tropical band. However, we received applications immediately after the release and it was sold out, so it is an extremely popular model with many people aiming for it.
As mentioned above, I have handled this watch several times, but I still get excited when I see the "TIFFANY & CO." mark above the 6 o'clock position on the dial. The fact that it is printed discreetly, perhaps to preserve the Aquanaut worldview, is another point that tickles the hearts of watch enthusiasts.
The Aquanaut is prone to scratches on the surface and edges of the bezel, and depending on the severity of the scratches, they can be quite noticeable, so there is a strong tendency for people to prefer non-polished or lightly polished models. As for this model, the bezel has only been lightly polished, and the case (including the bezel) is sturdy and has sharp edges, so we can confidently recommend this model.
The case diameter is 40.8mm and the thickness is only 8.1mm, so it fits very well on the wrist and has an "exquisite" size. In addition, the combination of the SS (stainless steel) case and tropical band is so light that you will forget you are wearing it, and there is absolutely no stress.
Tropical bands tend to look casual, but the fact that they can be worn with a suit or jacket without feeling out of place is typical of Patek Philippe.
The skeleton back allows you to see the stable movement "Cal.324 SC" that has been installed in "Ref.5167A-001" for a long time. The 21K gold central rotor is beautiful from any angle.
The most important thing about a double-name model is the existence of a warranty. Generally, the retailer's stamp is stamped (printed) or written on it, but the most important point is whether or not it has the words [TIFFANY & CO.] printed on it.
The warranty date is September 2016, and the model year is relatively old. Accessories include an envelope to store the pass case with the serial number and movement number , and a tag with the serial number. Of course, a "TIFFANY blue" outer box to store the Patek Philippe box is also included.
