Good evening everyone.

In addition to the sweltering heat every day, the Paris Olympics are also being held, so I'm sure many people are suffering from summer fatigue and lack of sleep. As it is a once-in-four-years festival, I'm sure you want to support the athletes, but first of all, please take good care of your own health.

That being said, it has become my daily routine to come home from work, turn on the TV, and cheer for the team. I'm sleepy. (laughs) This time, there were various ups and downs in judo, Japan's specialty, and it hasn't become a medal rush, but let's cheer hard until the end!

Well, this time we have a model that has a very important position in the history of [Patek Philippe], so we would like to introduce it to you. Please read to the end!

"Ref.5231J-001"
"World Time Cloisonné" 18KYG

The "World Time Cloisonné" "Ref. 5231J-001" is based on the "Ref. 5230," the third generation of the modern "World Time," and features cloisonné enamel in the center of the subdial.

One thing that can be said about all World Time Cloisonné watches is that they are all so intricately crafted that it is no exaggeration to say that they are works of art.

Now, before getting into the main topic, let me briefly review the modern versions of the World Time Cloisonné that have been released so far.

The "Ref. 5131J-001" was released in 2008 and is based on the "Ref. 5130," the second generation of the modern "World Time."

The centre of the dial features a cloisonné depiction of the Atlantic Ocean, as well as the continents of Europe, Africa and the Americas.

The following year, in 2009, the Ref. 5131G-001 was released with an 18KWG (white gold) case.

The center of this dial depicts the continents of Eurasia, Africa, and Oceania, and you can vaguely make out what appears to be Japan.

The "Ref. 5131R-001" was released in 2015 in 18KRG (rose gold).

This model depicts Asia, Oceania, and the Americas, with the Pacific Ocean at the center. You can clearly see the presence of Japan in this model, and I think the use of cloisonné colors and the balance are very good.

The final model in the "World Time Cloisonné" series is the "Ref. 5131/1P-001," which was released in 2017 with a PT (platinum) case and bracelet.

This is the only bracelet version in the series, and depicts North America and the north of Eurasia with the North Pole at the center. The North Pole in the center, the Americas in the north, and the top of Eurasia are all "snowy," so the design is based on white. Compared to the colorful dials of the past, this has a very subdued impression.

The second generation "Ref. 5130" was replaced by the third generation "World Time" "Ref. 5230" in 2016.

The movement is the "Cal. 240 HU," a masterpiece that has also been used in previous "World Time" models. The case has been reduced in size from 39.5mm to 38.5mm, the center of the dial features an intricate guilloche finish, and the hands have been changed to a design that combines the first and second generations.

And the main model, the "Ref. 5231J-001," will be released in 2019. Based on the "Ref. 5230," it has a cleaner look thanks to the elimination of the crown guard.

Compared to previous World Time models, the design and lug shape have changed significantly, giving it a more classic look. The design is also reminiscent of the classic World Time model, Ref. 2523-1.

Until now, the "Ref. 5131" series has had the brand name "PATEK PHILIPPE" engraved on the top of the case, but having it written on the top of the dial is also reminiscent of past "World Time" models.

In the center of the dial, you can see the Atlantic Ocean, Europe, Africa, and the Americas, all painted in beautiful cloisonné enamel, just like the Ref. 5131J-001. I think this is the most beautiful use of color in the World Time Cloisonné series that I have seen so far.

The movement that houses the World Time mechanism, which can be viewed through the skeleton back, is the Cal.240 HU, which has been used since the first generation of the modern World Time. Because it is based on the ultra-thin automatic movement Cal.240, the case thickness is kept to 10.23mm. The Calatrava cross engraved on the 22K micro rotor is also beautiful, and it also looks like a work of art.

In addition, the 18KWG (white gold) "Ref. 5231G-001" will be released to replace the "Ref. 5231J-001", and as of August 2024, it is the only current "World Time Cloisonné" model in the lineup.

This piece depicts the continents of Southeast Asia and Oceania, with the Pacific Ocean at the center, but the number of units available is extremely limited. Although we recently received our first shipment of this item, it immediately sold out.

The warranty date is May 2021. This is an extremely old model. There are some minor scratches that appear to have been caused during storage, but it is an unused item that has never been worn.

*There is a small scratch on the back of the lug that appears to have been caused when the belt was replaced.

The selling price is 16,995,000 yen (tax included)
