Good evening everyone.

Last time, we introduced two popular and rare models, the "Ref. 5070" equipped with a Lemania base movement, and as if drawn by that, we have received a rare model equipped with a Lemania ebauche (base movement), so we would like to introduce it to you. Please read to the end!

    "Ref.5970R-001"
    "Perpetual Calendar Chronograph" 18KRG

The "Ref. 5970R-001" was announced in 18KWG (white gold) at Baselworld in 2004 as the successor to the third-generation "Perpetual Calendar Chronograph" "Ref. 3970."

The 18KYG (yellow gold) version was released in 2008, and the PT (platinum) version was released in 2009, making the "Ref. 5970" available in a total of four materials.

The "Ref. 5970R-001" we are introducing was relatively common when it was released in 2004, but it is known to be a model that is very rarely distributed in the current domestic market. In fact, the "Ref. 5970" series was produced for only six years, from 2004 to around 2010, so although there are more of them than those made of 18KYG (yellow gold) or PT (platinum), there are very few of them in circulation to begin with.

From here, we will introduce the models by touching on their features.

First up, we have the "Ref. 5970R-001". The slightly gray dial is accented with 18KRG (rose gold) case, hands, and indexes, giving it a very soft and warm impression. When you look at this model, you can really feel the sexiness and coolness that the 18KRG (rose gold) case is alluring. We have handled two of these in the past, and no matter how many times we look at them, we are captivated by them.

The "Ref.5970G-001" was released at the same time as the "Ref.5970R-001". The dial is the same grayish color as the case, and the hands, indexes, brand name, etc. are all black, creating a monotone finish. It has the coolest impression of the "Ref.5970" series. Only one of these has been sold so far.

The Ref. 5970J-001 was released in 2008 with an 18KYG (yellow gold) case and a refreshing silver dial. It has a classic look reminiscent of the first perpetual calendar, Ref. 1518, and the second perpetual calendar, Ref. 2499. The end of production was announced in 2009, the year after it was released, and it is said to have the smallest production numbers of any of the Ref. 5970 series. Unfortunately, this model is not yet available in our store, so if you have one, we would love to hear from you. (laughs)

The last model we will introduce is the "Ref.5970P-001" released in 2009, which is the only "black dial" in the "Ref.5970" series in a PT (platinum) case. The black dial features white chronograph hands, a calendar display, subdials, and a tachymeter scale, making it highly legible. Another point is that it is different from other materials, such as the date display being large and bold, and "120" being displayed at the 6 o'clock position on the tachymeter scale. This model also had a short production period, and the production numbers were low, second only to the "Ref.5970J-001" made of 18KYG (yellow gold).

The "Ref.5970" has a truly "perfect" design that anyone would find beautiful, but that's because it incorporates the best features of previous "perpetual calendar chronographs." You can see that the tachymeter scale on the outer edge of the dial follows the design seen in the first-generation "perpetual calendar" "Ref.1518" and the first and second models of the second-generation "Ref.2499." In addition, the chronograph start/stop and reset push buttons also use the popular square shape that was used in the first-generation "perpetual calendar" "Ref.1518" and the first model of the second-generation "Ref.2499."

The case diameter of the previous model "Ref.3970" was 36mm, while the "Ref.5970" has been increased to 40mm. The 36mm case size has a classic feel to it, but I personally think that the 40mm case is much easier to use, including its size. It is a watch that gives off an outstanding aura, yet is also elegant and can be worn without being unpleasant, which is a unique feature of Patek Philippe.

The sapphire crystal skeleton back allows you to see the "Cal.27-70 Q" which uses an ebauche (base movement) made by Lemania. Not only is it beautiful to look at, it is also excellent in terms of precision, with a stable low beat of 18,000 vibrations per hour and a power reserve of about 60 hours. I have seen quite a few of these movements, and I have a strong impression that they are very precise.

Although there are some small scratches and scuffs due to use, the case and buckle are in good condition and give a solid impression. It also comes with accessories such as a warranty card, closed case back, and adjustment pins, so if you are looking for one, we recommend this opportunity to purchase it.

This item was also produced in limited quantities, and was in excellent condition with all the accessories, making it a perfect piece, but it seems there was still high demand. It's rare to find one in this condition, so please wait for the next shipment!!

    summary

The popular "Perpetual Calendar Chronograph" "Ref. 5970R-001" is equipped with a Lemania-based movement that is almost no longer seen on the market. I think it is a model that still has room to grow in the future.

We have introduced the "Ref.5070", "Ref.3970", "Ref.5004" and other models in previous columns.
Models with Lemania-based movements are particularly popular, and many people are searching for them, so it is expected that they will become even less available in the future. If you are interested, we recommend that you get your hands on one as soon as possible.
