As many of you may already know, this time I went to the auction site for the first time in a while and actually saw it with my own eyes, so I thought I'd share my impressions with you, so let's get started!

*The price is the winning auction price plus a commission fee (27%).
*The Japanese yen rate will be based on the most recent exchange rate at the time of the auction.
*HKD (Hong Kong dollar) = 19.17 yen

The fourth generation "Perpetual Calendar Chronograph" is the "Ref. 5970G-001".

This watch, which was released at Baselworld in 2004, has a beautiful combination of a slightly grayish silver dial and an 18KWG (white gold) case, making it a piece that exudes adult dignity. We have sold this watch in the past, and it was very popular and sold out immediately after it arrived. Looking at the results of this auction, it clearly exceeded the estimate, which shows how popular it is.

Lot.842
"Perpetual Calendar Retrograde" 18KRG
"Ref.5059R-017"

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/HK080423/842

Sold for HKD 635,000 (JPY 12,172,950)

The "Perpetual Calendar Retrograde" "Ref. 5059R-017" features an officer's case with a snap-type back case.

This watch has a beautiful finish with a sunburst brown dial and applied Roman indexes, and when you open the case back, you can see the Cal. 315S-QR movement, which is said to not require calendar adjustment until the end of February 2100. It is an attractive model from both the front and back, but when you actually hold the watch in your hands, the combination of the brown dial and applied Roman indexes makes it a very stylish and attractive piece.

Lot.843
"Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar Retrograde" 18KRG
"Ref.5013R-013"

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/HK080423/843

(JPY 44,091,000 –

Sold for HKD 2,540,000 (JPY 48,691,800 )

The Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar Retrograde "Ref. 5013R-013" features multiple complex mechanisms in a tonneau-shaped case.

This watch was produced for about 18 years from 1992 to 2010, and although there is no indication on the dial, it was sold at the TIFFANY boutique in New York. With its rare combination of 18KRG (rose gold) case and black dial, and its very interesting history, it is a perfect auction piece, and the winning bid was very reasonable. Those who were able to purchase it were very lucky!

Lot.850
"Perpetual Calendar Chronograph" PT
"Ref.5971P-001"

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/HK080423/850

Estimate: HKD 1,300,000 – 1,950,000
(JPY 24,921,000 –
37,381,500)

Sold for HKD 2,413,000 (JPY 46,257,210)

The "Perpetual Calendar Chronograph" "Ref. 5971P-001" is equipped with a Lemania-based movement.

This watch, with a platinum case and baguette diamond bezel, is extremely rare and rarely seen on the market. The black dial gives it a classic look and a dignified presence, while still being gorgeous. The winning bid price exceeded the estimate, but compared to the market price, it is probably a reasonable result.

Lot.858
"Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar" PT
"Ref.3974P-001"

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/HK080423/858

Estimate: HKD 8,800,000 – 17,600,000
(JPY 168,696,000 –
337,392,000)

Sold for HKD 14,365,000 (JPY 275,377,050)

The Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar "Ref. 3974P-001" was produced in approximately 120 units between 1989 and 2002.

In addition to the PT (platinum) version, this model is also produced in 18KYG (yellow gold), 18KRG (rose gold), and 18KWG (white gold), but it is said that only about 10 PT (platinum) versions were produced. Furthermore, this particular piece is close to being the final production, and instead of the usual bar index specification, it uses Breguet numerals, so the estimate was astonishing. This is the winning bid price that can only be achieved at a global auction, but it is understandable for such a rare item.

Lot.863
"World Time Cloisonné" 18KRG
"Ref.5131R-001"

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/HK080423/863

Estimate: HKD 620,000 – 1,100,000
(JPY 11,885,400 –
21,087,000)

Sold for HKD 698,500 (JPY 13,390,245)

The "World Time Cloisonné" "Ref. 5131R-001" is based on the World Time "Ref. 5130".

The world map drawn in cloisonné in the center of the dial includes Japan, making this a beautiful model with beautiful colors. It has become increasingly rare to see this model on the market recently, but this one is in a single sealed plastic case that is still sealed! The World Time Cloisonné has many memorable winning bids at past global auctions, but this time it was a reasonable bid. However, taking into account past trends, it is likely to evolve into a model that will be more highly rated in the future.

Lot.864
"Perpetual Calendar Chronograph" PT
"Ref.5271/13P-001"

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/HK080423/864

Estimate: HKD 2,200,000 – 3,800,000
(JPY 42,174,000 –
72,846,000)

Sold for HKD 5,842,000 (JPY 111,991,140)

The "Perpetual Calendar Chronograph" "Ref. 5271/13P-001" is studded with green emeralds.

This model is extremely luxurious, with 80 baguette-cut emeralds set on the bezel, lugs, and buckle. To make it stand out against the black dial, an emerald is also set at the 12 o'clock index, and the chronograph hands are also set in green, making this a beautiful watch with a beautiful contrast between green and black. This "Ref. 5271" is also available in models set with emeralds, rubies, and blue sapphires, but this emerald in particular was particularly popular, and the auction price far exceeded the estimate. Considering its beauty, this is no surprise.

Lot.880
"Perpetual Calendar Chronosplit" PT
"Ref.5004P-041"

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/HK080423/880

Estimate: HKD 2,600,000 – 5,200,000
(JPY 49,842,000 –
99,684,000)

Sold for HKD 6,286,500 (JPY 12,656,820)

The Perpetual Calendar Chronosplit "Ref. 5004P-041" was released in 1994 in platinum (PT) specification.

This watch is packed with Arabic numerals, sub-dial design, leaf hands, and other elements that make it look simply "cool!" The slightly small 36mm case and the large crown with split button make it look larger than its actual size, giving it a "big impact" design. The Ref. 5004 is already rare, but this model features a specially designed dial, making it an extremely rare model, and it was the model I was most interested in at this auction. As for the winning bid, it naturally exceeded the estimate and was a satisfactory result. And I think I was lucky to have been able to see this model in person.

Lot.921
"10 Days Tourbillon" 18KRG
"Ref.5101R-001 "

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/HK080423/921

Estimate: HKD 700,000 – 1,400,000
(JPY 13,419,000 –
26,838,000)

Sold for HKD 889,000 (JPY 17,042,130)

The "10 Days Tourbillon" "Ref. 5101R-001" is a highly practical watch that features a 10-day power reserve as well as a tourbillon.

This watch, with its distinctively shaped case and a tourbillon that can only be viewed from the back, is truly a watch that embodies Patek Philippe's technical prowess. The first "Ref. 5101P-001" released in 2003 has been sold in our store, but it has also attracted a lot of attention, and we have received many inquiries and have sold it immediately. As for the results this time, I think it was very reasonable. Tastes vary, but if it is a tourbillon model and is still in this price range, I think there is still room for growth in the future.

Lot.932
"Perpetual Calendar Chronograph" 18KWG
"Ref.5270G-013"

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/HK080423/932

Estimate: HKD 550,000 – 1,100,000
(JPY 10,543,500 –
21,087,000)

Sold for HKD 825,500 (JPY 15,824,835)

The "Ref. 5270G-013" is the second generation of the "Ref. 5270" that was released in 2014.

Compared to the first generation, the Ref. 5270 gained popularity due to many changes, such as silver-colored hour and minute hands, sub-dial hands, and indexes, a tachymeter on the outer edge of the dial, and a change in the design of the sub-dials at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock. However, despite its popularity, it was only produced for a short period of time, only one year, and is a rare model that many people are still searching for. Looking at the winning bid price, I think the market selling price was about 10% to 15% higher, so I think it was a great deal. One of the great things about auctions is that you can purchase it at an unexpectedly reasonable price, like this one.

Lot.933
"Perpetual Calendar Chronosplit" PT
"Ref.5004P-033"

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/HK080423/933

Estimate: HKD 1,950,000 – 2,750,000
(JPY 37,381,500 –
52,717,500)

Sold for HKD 2,794,000 (JPY 53,560,980)

The "Perpetual Calendar Chronosplit" "Ref. 5004P-033" is equipped with a Lemania movement.

This watch has an elegant design with diamond indexes on a platinum (PT) case, but it is not too bold and is easy to use. Furthermore, the fact that it is in unopened plastic and single-sealed condition, and is a high-year model, was very appealing, and it exceeded the estimate. It is rare to see a watch in this condition on the market, so the successful bidder will likely find it very useful.

Lot.961
"Perpetual Calendar Chronograph" PT
"Ref.5271/12P-001"

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/HK080423/961

Estimate: HKD 2,000,000 – 3,500,000
(JPY 38,340,000 –
67,095,000)

Sold for HKD 4,635,500 (JPY 88,862,535)

The "Perpetual Calendar Chronograph" "Ref. 5271/12P-001" is a luxurious model with rubies scattered all over it.

This model has the same specifications as the model introduced in Lot.864, but as you can see, baguette-cut rubies are set in the bezel, lugs, buckle, and index at 12 o'clock. Furthermore, this one is in single-sealed condition with the plastic still unopened, making it even rarer! And as for the result, although it did not fetch as much as the emerald, it far exceeded the estimate! The condition of the single-seal made it difficult to convey the quality of the watch, but the aura it had when you held it in your hand was incredible, and it was an attractive model with a bewitching allure.

Lot.983
"Nautilus" PT
"Ref.5711/1P-010"

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/HK080423/983

Estimate: HKD 3,900,000 – 7,800,000
(JPY 75,763,000 –
149,526,000)

Sold for HKD —

The Nautilus Ref. 5711/1P-010 was manufactured and sold between 2012 and 2016 for Patek Philippe's valued customers.

This is a rare Nautilus with a platinum case that was not even listed in the catalogue. There are various opinions on the number of pieces, but it is said to be around 50. I was looking forward to the results, but unfortunately, the auction itself has been canceled. I would have liked to know the current auction temperature (winning price) as a barometer of the future Nautilus market and the current market conditions, but I will look forward to seeing it again.

summary

What did you think.

This time, we have introduced a selection of noteworthy watches from the PHILLIPS watch auction held in Hong Kong on Friday, November 24th and Saturday, November 25th. Looking at the results, all of the rare and popular models were sold at high prices, and although there was some influence from the market, we were reminded that Patek Philippe is a brand worthy of being called a watch of the highest order. As auction results are partly linked to actual market prices, we will be keeping a close eye on other auction results and reporting them on Patek Theory.

see you!
