Good evening everyone.

There were a few warm days last week, and we can't wait for spring to arrive. How are you doing? From the 13th of next month, wearing a mask will be at the discretion of the individual, and it looks like we'll be taking a step forward in the long-running coronavirus problem. However, this will be a difficult time for those with hay fever, so it may be a while before we can take off our masks.

Well, this time, we would like to introduce the rare model " Perpetual Calendar Chrono Split " "Ref. 5204/1R-001 ", which has been handled by Commit Ginza (hereinafter referred to as our store) in the past, as it has arrived for the first time in a long time. Please enjoy until the end.

First, let's briefly review the "Ref. 5204".

*Ref.5204P-001 Reference: Christies

In 2012, the Ref. 5204P-001 was released with a PT (platinum) case and silver dial, and was equipped with the new horizontal clutch split-seconds hand chronograph hand-wound movement, Cal. CHR 29-535 PS Q, which was entirely developed and manufactured in-house.

This movement is based on the in-house manual winding chronograph that was installed in the Perpetual Calendar Chronograph "Ref. 5270" (2011), with the addition of a split-seconds mechanism.

Two years later, in 2014, the black dial version " Ref. 5204P-011 " was released at Baselworld.

Among Patek Philippe watches, I think the combination of a PT (platinum) case and a black dial is exceptional in the Grand Complications, especially in models equipped with a Perpetual Calendar Chronograph.

And then there's the Ref. 5204P-010, which is probably a minor change to the original Ref. 5204P-001.

In terms of appearance, I think it's the borders of the dial indexes and the color of the hour and minute hands that have changed from black to silver. In fact, there are many mysteries surrounding this model, and I couldn't find any accurate information so I can't say for sure when it was released, but I suspect it was released at the same time as the black dial "Ref. 5204P-011" or a little earlier.

In the past, we have handled two watches with silver dials in our shop, but we have never stocked the first model, "Ref. 5204P-001"... We would like to solve this mystery the next time we get one in stock. (laughs)

And what we would like to introduce this time is the " Ref.5204/1R-001 " with an 18KRG (rose gold) case and bracelet, which was announced as a new model in 2017. (※Production will end in 2022)

By the way, the bracelet version of the "Perpetual Calendar Chronograph" released the following year in 2018, "Ref. 5270/1R-001", has been introduced in Patek Theory several times. Do you recognize it? They are very similar, so be sure not to get them confused!

Returning to the topic at hand, the combination of the 18KRG (rose gold) case and the black dial is just full of sex appeal. The slightly glossy ebony black sunburst dial adds even more sex appeal.

The dial design has a larger calendar window at the 12 o'clock position that displays the day of the week and month, and the display has been reversed from white letters on a black background in the PT (platinum) version to black letters on a white background. RG (rose gold) is used for the hour and minute hands, chronograph hands, sub-dial hands, and the edges of the indexes, emphasizing brightness. Furthermore, the hour and minute hands and dial indexes are luminous, improving visibility, and the watch is not only traditional and stylish, but also practical in line with modern needs.

The " leap year window " displayed in numbers between the 4 and 5 o'clock positions, and the " day and night window " displayed in white and blue between the 7 and 8 o'clock positions, are very convenient to use once you get used to them. Furthermore, the moon phase window at the 6 o'clock position has been moved to the bottom, and the numbers on the outer date display have been made larger, which also improves visibility.

The increased case diameter of 40.2mm, partly due to the bracelet design, not only gives it a stronger presence, but also makes a big impact. When it comes to a watch of this class, it has a flawless design whether viewed from the left or right.

The movement that can be seen through the skeleton case back is the "Cal. CH 29-535 PS Q", which was developed and manufactured entirely in-house. Each part is carefully and meticulously finished, allowing you to feel the tradition and craftsmanship of Patek Philippe.

The condition of the watch is good, with some scuffs and small scratches due to use, but no noticeable scratches, and the non-polished case and bracelet make for a solid, impressive piece.

By the way, all the owners say the same thing: "Patek Philippe bracelet models fit the wrist perfectly!" So this time I tried wearing one and took some photos.
※I won't give my opinion because it might sound like a lie. (laughs)

As you can see in the photo, all accessories are included and the condition is good. The warranty date is March 2018. It was overhauled by the manufacturer in December 2022, so you can use it with confidence.

The selling price is 29,700,000 yen (tax included).

Considering that the domestic list price of the current model "Ref. 5204R-011 (leather strap) " is 43,703,000 yen (tax included), I think this price is quite a bargain for a bracelet model. There are almost no units for sale in Japan, and even if you look at the famous overseas sales site "Chrono24", there are no prices under 30 million yen excluding tax! It remains difficult to predict the future market conditions, but considering that production has already ended and that the manufacturer has completed an overhaul, this is a watch that I highly recommend.
