Good evening everyone.

A big cold wave has arrived and it's very cold today, but how are you doing? Thanks to our many customers, Commit Ginza (hereafter referred to as our store) is full of enthusiasm, so if you're feeling cold, please come and warm up. (laughs)

Now, getting to the main topic, Patek Philippe watches have become more and more popular this year. This time, we will focus on the Perpetual Calendar models from Patek Philippe, which are becoming more and more popular, and introduce two recommended models, so please enjoy until the end!

"Ref.5059G-001"
"Perpetual Calendar Retrograde" 18KWG

The "Ref. 5059G-001" is a slightly small and plump 36mm 18KWG (white gold) case equipped with a "perpetual calendar retrograde" mechanism. The best thing about this model is that it uses an "officer's case".

There are three main points regarding the definition of an officer case:

The first point is the " onion-shaped crown ." An officer is a military commander, but around 1900, wristwatches did not yet exist and pocket watches were the norm. If you have seen a pocket watch, you may have noticed that the crown has a unique shape that makes it easy to wind. This is the crown used in the "Ref. 5059."

The second point is the " lugs with screws ." The case itself is carefully constructed, and the strap is fastened with screws on both sides of the lugs. This specification actually makes it very difficult to change the strap. What's more, the screws themselves are made of 18KWG (white gold). If you don't use a screwdriver that's the perfect size, you'll strip the threads. It's as if they're saying that some sacrifices are unavoidable in order to complete a particular design, but I do like this specification. (laughs)

The third and final point is that the back cover is a hunter case . You cannot see the movement when wearing the watch, but if you open the back cover, you can see the beautiful movement "Cal.315 S QR", which is said to require no adjustment until the leap year of 2100. Furthermore, depending on the angle at which the back cover is opened and closed, the inside is mirror-finished, so you can see the reflection of the light like a mirror, which is incredibly beautiful.

It has a leap year window at 12 o'clock, a month window at 3 o'clock, a day window at 9 o'clock, a moon phase at 6 o'clock, and a retrograde date from 8 o'clock to 4 o'clock. I think this balance is exquisite. It may seem simple, but it is a complicated mechanism, and Patek Philippe is truly impressive for making it happen. Moreover, when the date jumps back from the end of the month to the beginning of the month, that moment is nothing short of exciting.

The accessories are an archive (manufactured in 2004 and sold in the same year) and a crocodile strap. The richness of the accessories is reflected in the price. By the way, this archive was previously available for watches that were sold five years ago, but as of April 2021, it is no longer possible to obtain an archive for watches sold after 1990.

The selling price is 4,543,000 yen (tax included)

Although it comes with a wide range of accessories, this price is a bargain considering that it is equipped with a perpetual calendar and a retrograde mechanism. We have received many inquiries about this watch, so we recommend that those who are interested make a decision as soon as possible.

"Ref.5940J-001"
『Perpetual Calendar』 18KYG

The Perpetual Calendar "Ref. 5940J-001" was announced as a new model in 2012.

Its biggest feature is the adoption of a square case commonly referred to as a "TV screen," which pays homage to the cushion cases used in antique models of the past.

With an 18KYG (yellow gold) case, a warm creamy white dial, applied indexes with Breguet numerals, and leaf hands, this watch exudes a classic atmosphere.

The movement is the ultra-thin automatic perpetual calendar "Cal.240 Q" that was developed to coincide with the release of the "Ref.3940". This movement is used not only in the successor model of the "Ref.3940", "Ref.5140", but also in the current model "Ref.5327", and is still an active player after nearly 40 years.

The case is only 8.48mm thick. This is no exaggeration; it is truly surprisingly thin. It fits comfortably under a shirt sleeve, making it a useful model for both work and play.

Accessories include a box with a winding function for models equipped with a perpetual calendar, warranty card, pass case, booklets, adjustment pins, back cover, and tag, although there is some damage to the inside of the box.

The selling price is 5,995,000 yen (tax included)

Although there are some scratches and small marks from use, the case is in good condition and has not been overly polished. It currently comes with a Jean-Saux strap (one-hole type) and fits people with a wrist circumference of about 15.5 cm. This watch also has a perpetual calendar and comes with all the accessories, and I think you won't find this price anywhere else in Japan or overseas!
