① 『Explorer』 「Ref.1016」

The Explorer Ref. 1016 is one of the most popular vintage Rolexes.

This is a long-selling model that was manufactured for about 30 years from around 1960 to around 1990, and has been loved by Rolex fans for a long time due to its simple design. It is largely divided into early and late models depending on whether it has a hacking function or not, but there are up to five types of dials, including mirror dials, making it a model that fans covet. It is often the last model that enthusiasts who have gone through various watch histories end up owning, and its universal popularity is unlikely to fade in the future. This model can be said to be the most popular vintage model, and we continue to receive many requests, from early mirror dials to later matte dials .

② Explorer II "Ref.1655"

One of the most popular vintage Rolex models is the Explorer II, Ref. 1655.

This is a long-selling model that was manufactured as a higher-end model of the Explorer for about 13 years from around 1971 to around 1984. It features a novel design that is different from previous designs, such as square indexes, pencil hands and orange 24-hour hands, and a 24-hour scale on the bezel. When it was first released, sales were low due to its unique design, but it is now one of the most popular vintage Rolexes. There are five types of dials, including different fonts and logos, four types of bezels (excluding service dials and bezels), and even a rare model called "albino" in which the orange 24-hour hand has faded to white due to aging, which captures the hearts of collectors. This model is particularly popular in Japan, and we receive regular requests for it.

3. Submariner "Ref.5513"

From the Submariner, the epitome of diver's watches, comes the Ref. 5513, which is gaining attention as an entry-level model for vintage Rolexes.

This is the longest-selling Submariner model manufactured from around 1963 to around 1990, and the differences in specifications due to minor changes make it a very attractive model. From the early mirror dial to the matte dial, there are many variations, and not only is it fun to search for your favorite specifications, but it is also full of points that stir the collector's heart. Currently, there are relatively many units in circulation, so there are many people looking for birth year units. Due to its cool design and rarity, this is a vintage model that is in constant demand .

④ "Submariner" "Ref. 1680"

Next up is the vintage model "Ref. 1680," which was manufactured from around 1969 to 1980 and was the first Submariner to have a date display.

From around 1969 to the mid-1970s, there was a model with red "SUBMARINER" letters, commonly known as the "Red Sub", and from the mid-1970s to around 1980, there was a model with white letters, commonly known as the "White Sub". It is also one of the models with the most different dial specifications, with "Red Sub" types 1-6 and "White Sub" types 1-5. Among them, the "Red Sub" is particularly popular, and those with tropical dials that change over time are highly rated. It seems that there are fewer of them on the market every year, which is probably why we are receiving requests for them.

⑤ "Submariner Blue Sub" "Ref.1680/8"

Next up is the Ref. 1680/8, the first solid gold model in the history of the Submariner .

This popular model has a vintage look with barnacle indexes and an applied crown mark. When it was first released, you could choose between a hard or jubilee bracelet, and it is a deep model with a "belly buckle" with a crown mark on the tip, which was attached to the hard bracelet. There are few examples with a solid bracelet in existence, and the number of them in circulation is extremely small to begin with, so we have received many requests.

⑥ "GMT Master Black" "Ref.1675/3"

The third generation "GMT Master" "Ref. 1675/3" was produced from the late 1960s to around 1980.

This is a combination model of 18KYG (yellow gold) and SS (stainless steel) and was available in two types of dial, black and brown, but the one we have been receiving requests for is the black dial with applied indexes, commonly known as "barnacle dial". The contrast between black and gold is stylish, but it also has a vintage feel to it, and we have received many requests for this unique watch.

⑦ "Daytona Black" "Ref.6263"

The third generation Daytona, "Ref. 6263", was produced from around 1969 to around 1988.

This is one of the most popular vintage models, with a screw-in pusher instead of a push button, and water resistance of 100m. It is available with a black or silver dial, but the so-called "Big Logo" with a large "DAYTONA" inscription at the 6 o'clock position is particularly popular. The request this time is for a small Daytona with a replacement service dial. The price of the hand-wound "Daytona" that has maintained its originality has risen significantly, but there are many people who are looking for a small Daytona that has been replaced with parts from later years and is in good condition, or that has a low market price .

8. Day-Date Silver "Ref.6263"

Next is the third generation Daytona, the Ref. 6263, which was produced from around 1969 to around 1988.

The requests we are receiving this time are for older models with silver dials manufactured after 1984, and we have the impression that many people are looking for hand-wound "Daytonas" that have retained their originality. Even though it is called "original," it is important to buy from a reputable store, as only a professional in the field can easily tell whether the pushers have been replaced, whether there is any loss of luminous material, and the condition of the bracelet. It is a bit of a hassle, but we are one of the top stores in Japan when it comes to handling hand-wound "Daytonas," and we are receiving many requests for this.

summary

We have introduced vintage Rolex models that customers have requested to be restocked. We received many requests, so we were only able to introduce a few models, but it turns out that many people are looking for distinctive collector's items and classic vintage models.

If you own one of these models and are considering selling it, we would be delighted if you would take advantage of our Commit Ginza store sales and purchase service.
